Never seen the bloke play before but xaver schlager of Austria impressed me and looked like he knew how to run a midfield. Just wonder if anybody had seen much of him before this tournament and whether thats how he plays normally or is he a tournament flash in the pan?

Always think of Diego Forlan, who I thought was rubbish - but then seeing him play for Uruguay later on in his career he looked the best striker on the planet.

There's a few examples. I think it is either the wrong club at the wrong time, the league isn't right for them (Veron springs to mind), or they just mature as players. Sanches looks a proper player now though.

Cost Wolfsburg around £13m so can imagine they'd want maybe £20-25m.

No sure he would take the job , with out the promise of funds. All he did at Newcastle was moan about the owners not giving him money.

If he’s joined With out serious money to spend, then he knows he won’t last the season. Because mid table and he will be hounded out the club. Unless he thinks it’s 12 months works for 10mil, but why wouid he do that, he doesn’t need the money. He can happily live in the area. Now he’s potentially pissing off both sets of fans. Surely he doesn’t need the hassle

Lille signed him from Bayern for £18m after Bayern signed him from Benfica for £35m. He's not some hidden gem.

Not necessarily talking about him specifically. Their transfer record of buying and selling is pretty decent. Brands was supposed to be brought in to do similar to what their DOF has been doing.

I don’t believe that, if there is money available to spend which I think there is he will get it, like Carlo would have or any one else that they could have hired for the job.

There's a bit of a difference between signing players for Lille and signing players in the prem though.

For example they bought Jose Fonte as their first choice centre half-would you have took him from China?

Meanwhile they can sell players like Osimhen, Leao and Pepe for a combined 180 million and not one of them is really anything but midtable quality so far since leaving the French league.

Their transfer record cant really be compared to as they play in a different league
