Wasnt he signed as a last minute addition? At the time I thought it wasnt a bad deal. Brands got in quite a few players in the last days of transfer period, not all of them succesful but still. Not "everyone" wanted Gomes.
Delph didnt "seem like a no brainer at the time".
Like you say, Iwobi is mind blowing...its not even £27mil only...its with clauses taking it up to £34-35mil.
Thats an incredibly poor piece of business...beggars belief.
Hes the DOF...hes signed the 3 and he should sell them. If he fails this window then the knives should be out.
I think it didnt help that Ancelottis main task at the start, was to get some confidence in the players heads. Its a recuring theme, many times mentioned in Pr talks, and noticable on the field. That might have damaged the individual training of a guy like Iwobi, who had some good games before.
I do think if Brands and Benitez know what theyre doing, is take the man management assesment of Ancelotti, see who improved and who is beyond that. I found Holgate especially incredibly error prone and costs us quite a few decisive against goals. I also think that Richarlison is just not that. His form the last 6 months below his wages. Up and until his red card he was great. Ah well, maybe Benitez does a Tuchel. Who would have given Chelsea the CL winner when Lampard was coaching them. Me, I hope they buy one great addition to midfield, a replacement for richarlison and maybe a superstar striker who can a difference more than DCL.
