Everton Summer transfers 2021

Curious to see what kind of players Benitez targets in the transfer window. We don't really have the wide players for his preferred system (4231 with a deeper 3 than most). I wonder how he'll view Richarlison's role in that system, assuming he stays. I wonder if Benitez would prefer him in the role behind the striker (which typically goes to a more linking player) or wide left (Rich would do well defensively but it brings him too far from goal.) Maybe it will be moot and he'll use a different system, but we certainly need wingers either way. He also has had a tendency to stick central players out wide (Sissoko at Newcastle being one example) which is one of my pet peeves as a football fan. If he plays Gylfi wide right I'm done...
5-4-1 mostly at Newcastle, though.

It'll be interesting to see what he thinks of the current squad.

I should imagine we will continue this Brands finds three players RB finds three.. The idea RB is choosing all the transfers ignores we have a DOF. We need quality and pace asap. Five players at least

Massive shame that the likes of Iwobi will get another free pass to prove himself. Hopefully Benitez weeds him out after 1 training session and asks Brands to punt him. Hoping he does that with a lot of them though to be fair.

Was just looking into how difficult it's been to shift our deadwood in the last few years.

Since Lukaku left for however many million in 2017, the players we've sold for any kind of significant fee are Ramiro Funes Mori, Davy Klaassen, Nikola Vlasic, Ademola Lookman, Idrissa Gueye, Henry Onyekuru, and Kieran Dowell.

I'm not going to name them all, but the list of unwanted players who have ended up leaving when their contracts expire, have left for a nominal fee, or are still at the club, is much longer.

I don't know why I've spent time researching something everyone knew already, and, really, I wish I hadn't. Great stuff.
