Grew up in L40 - Think it's border country between Posh and Wool, now live in WN6 which is so wool that I have to pretend to be from Skem

Am I the only L12er here at all?
Got to say this is a den of Kopites, well certainly the pub-on-matchday brigade. Some bad full kit w**kers in the area, not even counting those who work at Melwood!

When our family were living in Walton, it was before they thought up postcodes! We were moved to Kirkby and even then do not know the post code but that was many many years ago.

Just not correct. Methodist club at the start, good Catholic fanbase developed in the 50's (?) when we had loads of Irish internationals on the books, but religion was never the determining factor.
"Today the sectarian divide between the teams no longer exists except as a memory. But when it did exist Everton was always seen as the catholic team and Liverpool as the protestant team.
The origins of Everton's catholic support lie in the late 19th century when Dr Baxter, a prominent Catholic doctor and a leading light in the catholic community, joined the Everton board. He brought with him the thousands of Irish Catholic families from the Scotland Road area who duly became Everton supporters, despite Everton's origins as a Methodist team (the old St Domingo's).
The Catholic dimension was maintained in various ways at Everton, not least in the 1950s when the core of the Everton team hailed from the Republic of Ireland".

Happily the religious thing has faded into history. But when I was young in the 50s we were known as The Priests Team

I grew up in WA3 (cue lots of wool accusations). Plenty of blues in Warrington but my parents (One from Knotty Ash the other from Old Swan) chose to live between Warrington and the wasteland that is Manchester. Even made me go to grammar school there....had to keep my allegiance mostly to myself but couldn't resist letting it slip when a Joe Royle goal knocked Man Utd out of the cup at OT. Got my head kicked in the following Monday. Now live miles away in OX27

OX28 mate.
