Meant to add that there's lots of plastic scouse Liverpool supporters down here. When i go to the pub to watch the derby games I'm usually the only blue around.

Used to be sound (L25)
Now I have to stare across the wool moat from CH65
(surounded by gob*****s and Mancs)
- Although today has been very enjoyable.

Here is Wales. Here is England.

I'm sure there's more to England than that.

Just about sums up everything of interest in Wales though.

L36, but don't look for me there now.

L9 until age of 5, L30 until age 18 then I got the hell out of there and was L18 until the age of 31.

Now USA....not even good USA. Bad USA...friggin small town, bible bashing, republican midwest, the arse-hole of nowhere where the only good thing is being able to watch a serious amount of footy on NBC.

You see, going back before our time, it wasn't geography which determined a fellow's football allegiance in this city.

It was religion.

As a rule, Catholics supported Everton and the Proddy Dogs (as we called them when we were kids ) went for Liverpool.

That had all changed by the time I was going the match and anyone of my vitage will remember the chants of "Cel-tic"/ "Ran-gers" in the Gwladys as people of all religions and none supported wumever they wanted to.

So I suppose that there may have been pockets of one team or another in the old style row housestreets or tenement blocks in the like of Dingle or Scotty Road or Netheton Road where Prods or Catholics had their own areas before the urban regeneration post WW2.

It goes back further than that. Everton's founding fathers were largely Liberal local politicians and thus pro-home rule for the Irish. John Houlding was an Orangeman and many of the Liverpool FC hierarchy were Tory and this anti-home rule for the Irish. This will have made any Catholics more likely to support Everton and less likely to support the other lot.
