Sorry if this has already been posted but got up to page 20 and no-one had answered the question regarding how the figure is made up, so you might be interested in this article:

http://soccer.nbcsports.com/2015/10/16/report-sporting-kc-owners-looking-to-buy-everton/

In particular:

Numbers suggested for the purchase of the club have been rumored to be around $150m for the team itself, then $85m for Goodison and then to clear the club of the debt levels it had in 2014, that would take another $50-75 million. In total, Kenwright and the board would be willing to let the club go for significantly less than the $347 million figure previously reported.

$347 million dollars at exchange rates of $1.5:£1 would make this figure about £230million. So for the club they are looking for about £156 million but whoever buys will clear the club's debts as well.

Hope this helps

But, and this has been done to death over the last few years, they have spotted that Everton could be marketed into the US sporting pysche, you know the script I am sure, then that might just have the necessary legs for them to step in.

Its still a very niche sport to follow in this country and will stay that way for at least a couple more decades. The TV money helps but that's divided up between 20 teams. Outside of a few more jersey sales and a summer tour there isn't much money to be made here.

Will bow to your local knowledge mate.

Also, I get the whole 'spread a rumor to hype half season ticket sails' thing but I'm not sure how this rumor benefits the board with an AGM coming up? would it not just make the minor share holders restless and highlight the ongoing lack of investment?

Too right mate, Kenwright doesn't even have the decency to take a wage from the club, how can we trust him to put the interests of the club first when he's not even fleecing us himself.

Of course Gen.George Washington refused to be paid by the Continental Congress when he lead the Continental Army against the British. His logic there was if they don't pay you they can't fire you from the job... sound familiar?

Most national chains just sell a scattering of Real Madrid, Barca, and sometimes a Man United, or Bayern jersey (and even for them you could just head to your local spanish flea market and pick up a bootleg for 1/3 of the price). You might see a Chelsea jersey at an Adidas outlet. To even get something like a Liverpool jersey you usually have to go to a specality footie store which aren't really plentiful.
