Everton Transfer Thread 2016

The Hart link is a leftfield one for a couple of reasons. Primarily the fee. There's no doubt that he's been the most consistant goalkeeper in the country over the last few years. He's had two rocky spells during that time where he lost confidence and made errors or was dropped, but he's generally imperious, and has excelled in the Champions League particularly whilst most of his teammates have been caught lacking. I guess in simplistic terms you could say the only keepers in the league who are better than him - De Gea and Courtois have been valued around the same, but they have age on their side.

For City, it would represent a rare instance of us getting value for a player. £400k followed by a decade of brilliant service is usually the sort of business only done by elite continental clubs, or domestic clubs ran properly like Spurs. It would have to be considered one of the biggest bargains of all time. We know that Guardiola likes a goalie who's comfortable with the ball at is feet and who will come off his line with success. Those are two of Hart's weaknesses, along with shots to his low near post. He doesn't have many. We're being strongly linked with ter Stegen from Barcelona, and Ederson of Benfica.

There are several reasons why i doubt this deal will happen. Firstly, i'm always dubious when spectacular deals are mooted around this time. May and June always feels like silly season, and with good reason. United are always linked with the likes of Neymar around this time of the year, you hear mention of the Puma 'warchest' at Arsenal - season tickets need to be sold, and supporters rightly get giddy at the possibility of big names arriving. Players and their agents have their own agenda aswell. Hart's part of the furniture at City, yet he's still said to be on around £90k a week, half what Raheem Sterling gets.

It will be interesting to see how the takeover at Everton, and the huge increases in revenue at other clubs like Leicester and West Ham effects the dynamic of the transfer market. When City were taken over they accepted they would have to pay a premium on homegrown talent and still do. Hart is probably a £20m player, but signing him, even at a much greater cost could be Everton's Robinho moment. It could announce Everton's arrival at the top table and open the door for other players to arrive. It could also signal a change to City's transfer policy.

All in all, it could represent a good deal for both clubs in different ways. I don't know if Hart would willingly sacrifice Champions League football but he could be swayed by the inevitablity of it if, and it's a big if, Moshiri has the serious funds to throw at it. City having to already carry out major surgery on an already ageing and fragile defence could be a spanner in the works. Kompany's beyond repair, Mangala's been a horrendous buy, Demichelis is being put out to pasture, and injuries have caught up with Zabaleta. Replacing one of only two reliable fixtures of a back five in one summer, the other being Sagna, may prove too big an ask.

We need a manager in quick, the R's have already started buying with a new keeper. We will be left behind as moves will be made before the euros

I don't understand how we can be linked with players when we don't have a manager. Surely the manager has to sign off on any transfers/identify targets etc?

The rumour has been around for a few months now.

Amazing that Moyes was offered hart by shrewsbury yet he apparently didnt have the funsds (£400k!!!).

Theres a chance it could happen if you buy a sweeper keeper type but then we wouldnt offer £40mil....

It would be a statement signing of course for us and at 29 could be good for 6 or 7 years.

I'd stil prefer Sergio Rico, Butland or Leno myself and seeing as we dont have a DOF of a manager it would be a bit bizarre to say the least.

Would happily pay 20m for him.

But the source is so jarg its unreal.

Wouldnt be surprised to see us have a sniff if he does become available, can safely say we wont be paying 40m.

Really don't see us buying much if at all from other Premiership teams this summer mate, IF we do have a substantial transfer budget then buying from other teams here is the quickest way to get the least out of it with the way prices are

In normal seasons then yeah we could maybe snap up a few players who are deemed surplus with all the mangerial changes - Hart, Mata and a few others will likely be replaced bu the incoming managers, but with every single club now in the league having at least a decent (20-40m) amount of money to spend (see Newcastle/West Ham and Bournmouth/Norwich spending last season), then these prices will just be driven ridiculously high for anyone who is even semi proven in this league

So many managerial changes in the league right now - especially at the 'big clubs', that this summer is going to be the absolute worst in memory for the jarg rumours every day

City, United, Chelsea and the rs all with Managers with their first chance to spend to change the squads, all under pressure to deliver in the league next season, can easily see all 4 of those teams sinking close to 200m each this summer

Then the likes of Leicester who have to strengthen massively with the CL and pressure of doing well in the league now on them

West Ham - new stadium - EL footy and already being linked with throwing 30m bids out left right and center

Arsenal - Wengers last season - may as well spend some of the fortune they have with one last roll of the dice to go out a winner

The middle of the pack teams like Stoke, Watford etc will all spend a large ammount thinking they can bridge the gap to the top 5-6 like they always try

and the teams at the bottom will see what happened this year with 2 of the 3 promoted teams that stayed up and follow the model that they did and throw a lot of money around to improve their squads

Throw us into the mix with a supposed huge ammount to spend and it is going to be a silly season and a half

Only bloody spurs will probably NOT spend big - they will just do what they have been doing and improve the squad gradually with a couple of shrewd signings

I honestly can't see the Joe hart signing, it just sounds too implausible to be true. The money sounds massive as well, £40m transfer fee and £50m in wages! There is speculation about Guardiola not being convinced about him, but it's only speculation.

Having said that if City didn't want him, what would his viable options be? If he wanted to stay in the premiership, they would actually be quite limited. I wouldn't say any of the champions league teams are a viable option, so maybe we would be, as he would certainly be first choice.

Screw it! It's on! Ffs!

Doubt it would happen but Hart would be a fantastic signing.

Anyone saying some random bloke from Germany is better than him has Europe fever where every player from abroad is "better".

At it actually links us with a top player for once, as opposed to linking one of our players with another team

But yeah, I doubt it's happening

Mikey we will get linked with a lot of big money signings and in the same papers the same day they will link us with even bigger departures

Everton to pay 40m for Hart, next page - Everton to sell Lukaku for 60m
