Would take Mata, blind only as a squad player banned from playing CB

Blind, a bit like Barry, is one of those players you don't realise how good he is until you see him live IMO.

He has been very, very good at centre back for United, and since moving there has also improved Holland's defence.

Not saying I think we should go for him but he's a good player.

I think that's a nicely balanced team and Blind is better than McCarthy for that role and Bazoer is better than McCarthy for the position further up. The rest of our midfielder either is too young (Davies) or not really good enough to be starters. I also think those 3 would work within our budget of around net 100m with enough left over for a decent GK and squad cover.

That makes no sense. We are getting an extra 50m from the TV deal and we have just been bought by a billionaire owner who has said he's going to put 100m of his own money into players. If we're still using Bill's calculator then I'm not surprised no one is interested in the job.

Perhaps, I've only seen him live once, and wasn't convinced. Of course he might have just had an off game. Interesting that @Cypher has put him down as a DCM in his proposed line up.

Who would you put out of the team to accomodate him at CB? or would you sign him as a back up / if Stones leaves?

Seen this morning that Sunderland are looking at bringing Subotic from Dortmund in on loan for a season. He would be a good option for us to have at the back surely? Or has his ability drastically declined in the last season? Couple of years ago he was a top defender but Ive not really seen him play recently

Would love to have a cheeky go at Arjen Robben/Ribery and Schweinsteiger. They are all above 30 and should not cost much. We could ship our Barry and use Schweinsteiger's experience (despite being injury prone). Its about attracting big names through a couple of other big names towards the end of their career while they are good enough to do the job for a year or two.

Schweinsteiger looks like a fan on the pitch now, he has gone. Looks out of shape too and hardly plays. Not bad though for 14m a year at Man U!
