What?

Left footed attacking mid. Can be central or cut in from the right. Maybe can play crosses from the left too.

No idea how he'd fit into the team but we haven't a clue how Koeman will set up next season so worth discussing him. If there's some sort of way he, Ross and Del could be an attacking three it would be pretty crazy.

Actually just had a look at how Koeman set up his attacking 3 behind the striker. He had Tadic (left-footed) stay wiiiide left, same as Deulofeu does for us. And he had Mane (right-footed) drift inside from the right and play pretty centrally, which is unusual as usually 'inverted wingers' are on the side opposite to their stronger foot (if that makes sense).

If that's an indication of how Koeman likes to set up then we could very easily have:

Deulofeu - Barkley - Ziyech

It may help a lot that Mane still has a pretty good weak foot though and I have no idea what Ziyech's weak foot is like. Or if he'd even want to do that.

Posted similar in the other thread but some players we could and should be looking at for the summer and beyond.

Squad players
Tielmans
Tete
Praet

Options
Wijnaldum
Caragou Turkish fella
Tadic

Wasn't it Dennis Praet that caused Monchi to walk out of Sevilla. He wanted to buy him badly, they refused. 8-10 m euros.

we dont need shane long, please set your expectations higher.

Shane Long is exactly what we need. Proven in Prem unlike the growing numbers of "wonderkids" from around Europe all unproven who will take time to bed in as Geri has who was like them labelled a "wonderkid" when we loaned him.

Nothing to do with setting expectations high just being pragmatic.

Mate if we Want a striker to run around loads and not get very many goals we could get any of our youngsters to do that

Perhaps.

I see the likes of Praet and Tielmans as players who wouldn't be walking into the first team, more ones to be involved and be long term investments. I think that will be key here, distinguishing between first team and squad players with the future in mind.

Hate being picky but the waiting is making me tetchy mate. However they're only termed 'inverted' wingers if they play on the opposite side to their stronger foot. I suppose you mean that Mane tends to cut inside from the right like an 'inverted' winger would.

Yes sorry mate, that's exactly what I mean. He's deployed a bit like an inverted winger in that he drifts centrally to the 10 position a lot, but is actually on the same side as his strong foot.

Maybe that's his style, maybe it's how Koeman likes to play his wingers. I do know Koeman bloody loves a cross so perhaps he likes to keep his wingers on their 'traditional' sides to encourage that.
