Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Unless he cleans up his act the red cards will at best stay high or even increase as once you get a repuation with the refs it is hard to shake off.

I've often thought he looked slow & ponderous on the ball & struggles when pressed he even got sent off because off this can't recall the exact game.

In many way he is McCarthy in a heavyweight boxers body.

People talk about his performance in the nou camp he tackles & runs & they didn't have any of the ball of course he was always going to play well. That performance was very similar to McCarthy for Ireland v Germany.

To be fair others may have seen more of him than me & I suppose it depends on what system Koeman settles on but I'm sick of defensive midfielders with limited ability on the ball & average passing ranges.

Saints fans say he is a bit like the Newcastle players - only performs when he thinks someone who can get him a good move is watching, not the attitude we want.

We clearly need a new CDM. Our best CDM is currently Barry, who would struggle to get into any of the top 7 clubs first team. McCarthy is poor. Besic is 3rd choice out of a bad group of three. Even if you think we can progress with another season of Gareth Barry at CDM, which I think would put us at a disadvantage, we will need to replace him next season so it would make sense to get a good CDM if one became available, especially at the price Wanyama will go for. But he will probably go to Spurs, who already have numerous quality CDM's.

He does need to improve his discipline, but you need a bit of bite from your CDMs. He'd become our best midfielder if he came to Everton instead of going to a Spurs team that will be in the Champions league and which was fighting for the title and not languishing in the bottom half last season.

Has Rooney been discussed on here? Apologies if so.

Would Utd be prepared to sell him? Would we want him?

If they were prepared to leave him go, I feel he still has a lot to offer, could improve the clubs profile and potentially attract others. Bringing in bigger players will be a process over 2-3 years.

Also, would Schneiderlin be available, and would Koeman be keen on teaming up with him again?

I'm same as Ijjy.

Rooney would be a great signing - is just what this side needs right now but, in all honesty, I think with his new-found role as a midfielder Mourinho will keep him and he'll be a key part of the side.

Could definitely see us making a bid for Schneiderlin though, and I also think Mata is a possibility.

Personally would prefer Schneiderlin over Wanyama - though at this stage obviously there's no indication Schneiderlin is going to be sold. I suppose if there starts to be noises about Man Utd going for a holding/central midfielder, we'll know he's probably off.

Southampton seem absolutely furious at us with Koeman ditching them for us, they'd charge us massive overs on any player we try and sign from their list, hard to see us signing anyone from Southampton unless they've got a buyout clause.

All of you talking about Schnederlin, I don't think he will be leaving as theres a rumour on GMS that Schweinsteiger could leave. With Carrick nearing retirement, blind possibly leaving and Schweistiger leaving- he will keep Schnederlin.

Schweinsteiger must be on mega money and looks a shadow of his former self...not sure where he would go next....unless he wants to move closer to his gf.

He may leave but in todays market- big players have kit sales to make money back, like Zlatan at United
