Hahaha that would make up for all those years of hurt. Maybe he could get Odidja-Ofoe and Fer in to work in the club shops as mannequins too.

I think you'll find as we start shopping for the higher quality players we'll have to sit through more dives and fake injuries.

My concern is that if we did sign him, he'd make what I typed above look silly for a few games, but then fade badly and look like a terrible buy after a season or two.

Let's face it, there's a reason he's linked with a move away from United - he generally hadn't made the grade there and is dispensable. He tends to have big eye catching periods of a season, then fade to anonymity for the rest of it.

The only reason he is linked with a move away from United is Jose - nothing to do with Mata's quality

I'm going to look a bit silly here, but... I don't want Mata.

Don't get me wrong, he's an good player, but for the money and wages he'd cost he's the wrong age and I don't think good enough to merit the outlay.

Yeah, I know we're bankrolled now, but not infinitely so. We could go out and get two good players for the amount it'd cost to bring in one here. He'd cost at least £30m, probably more, and I just don't rate him that highly. He's rarely the standout player on the pitch, and for what is essentially a flair player who doesn't defend, that's a big problem.

We should look to bully a vulnerable Newcastle into getting Wijnaldum (who has the potential to be better than he was last season, and he was pretty good even then) for around £15m, then use the surplus cash to improve central midfield - McCarthy isn't good enough, Besic unproven and Barry could collapse in form any day now.

Mata is an absolutely superb player, Chelsea fans where absolutely gutted when they sold him, and United fans until Mourinho arrived didn't want him gone and wanted him more central to the team, only since the arrival of Mourinho are they now changing tact as they realise he will be sold and they hope that Mourinho will bring in some superstar as his replacement

Wijnaldum, best judge of a player can poften be the people who watch him week in week out, and the Newcastle fans can't stand the bloke and in subsequent posts you've gone on about Mata dissapearing, Newcastle fans have said that Wijnaldum did exactly that for the last 5 months of the season, never saw chelsea fans or united fans saying the same about Mata.

The papers run the line of newcastle fans will be gutted if they lose him, they say he played well in their stories, and quote stats etc to back it up, rather take the opinion of every single newcastle writer/youtuber etc, who reckoned he has talent but is gutless and went invisible for them

For what it's worth, my mate is a season ticket holder at Old Trafford and he describes Mata as one hugely frustrating player and would be quite happy to see him sold.
