Agree on everything there mate apart from that point. Sneijder still plays at 10 ocassionally but normally plays as a central midfielder in either a 4-2-3-1 (Gala) or 4-3-3 (Holland). He's slowly moving back - and I think Koeman may well be targeting him as a realistic option that gives us some creativity from further back on the pitch.

Of course the added bonus is he also can play 10.

I suspect that if he's coming here to play as one of the two CMs in a 4231 then Barry's days are numbered. Sneijder alongside Besic, with Barkley at 10, I could live with....

Not necessarily - having two experienced pros at the club, who can run midfield or anchor it gives Sneider and Barry the chance to each play fewer games, and gives us options. I wouldn't see them playing together necessarily, but as alternatives.

When we only have £100m to spend, £50m is too much to spend on any one player. That player might well be value for money at £50m (like Aguero), but which parts of the squad are you prepared to leave weak as a consequence of blowing half your budget on one player?

We dont need 7 or 8 players!
2, 3 or 4 top quality signings would suffice, and replace any of our first teamers that leave

Or Gibson and or Clev are gonna be shipped off I suppose.

Think we'll see Barry for at least half of the season, and probably the whole one.

But the thing with Sneijder is he offers us options. He can be a 10 or play deeper - so it's a two in one deal rather than 'he's here for one specific role'

2, 3 or 4 top quality signings would suffice, and replace any of our first teamers that leave

Hibbo, Osman and Pienaar already gone.
Kone and McGeady NEED to go.
Cleverley, McCarthy and Niasse all need to prove themselves quickly or be replaced.
First choice keeper needed.
Backup striker needed.
Backup RB needed - don't want a Browning or a Kenny sitting on the bench every week when they could be developing as a player by getting 30 starts on loan in the championship.
Some creativity in the middle of the park needed - either a big-time CM or a big-time 10 (possibly both).

Unless you want a bench full of kids every week, we need more than 3 or 4 players - would you be prepared to split the difference and agree on six?

We only need 3-4 presently though; we don't know whether we will or can sell Kone, McGeady, Cleverley, Niasse or McCarthy yet so that's just being speculative at best.
