when did hoolahan get so old? i thought he was early 20's haha got to be honest, i can't even picture his face though and he was at blackpool many years ago.

Hoolahan is a better option than Mata for a number of reasons.
- Mata would be expensive and on big wages
- Mata also fades after 70 mins
- Mata would think he's bigger than the club after where he's come from
- Mata usually can;t handle the more physical aspects of the game
- Hoolahan would be cheap for signing and wages, granted he's getting on a bit
- Hoolahan doesn't go missing during games
- Hoolahan wouldn't complain if he was benched/taken off during games
- Hoolahan has a great assist and scoring record for his price range.

Worth a gamble I think and if it didn't work out it wouldn't be a big financial loss.

Ok hold on. I said Hoolahan would be a good option. In no world is he as good as Mata.

With your signings that gives us

Joel
New goalie

Coleman
Back up RB

Jags
Stones
Funes Mori
BROWNING - goes out on loan. No in sense sitting on the bench every week

Baines
Oviedo
Garbutt - goes out on loan, as per Browning

Barry - reduced number of game this season in order to keep him at peak
McCarthy - if the creative midfielder comes in, James becomes expendable
Gibson - not realistically going to play

Besic
Cleverley - as per McCarthy
Creative midfielder
Barkley
Big time no 10

Deulofeu
Lennon
Mirallas
Niasse - highly unlikely to make the grade. Probably goes out on loan.

Lukaku
Backup striker
Rodriguez - forgot about this guy totally. 23 years old, going nowhere. Sell.

That is 26 first team squad member (i thought id be nice and not add Kone & McGeady as you said they will be ditched)
I also did not add Galloway, Davies, Dowell, Pennington, Ledson, Kenny, Walsh as they are all under 21 years of age but in my opinion a better option as squad fillers than some of our first teamers. - Actually, they need to go out on loan. This is one thing Martinez did get right!
So if you also add the kids thats 33 lads possibly training with the first team next season. Far to many in my opinion and only 11 of these can start every week.
2,3 or 4 signings would make it alot easier to manage the squad then 7 or 8
My comments added to your quoted post. I agree with your principles, but not with the individual numbers.

About Michael Mcgovern, Northern Ireland and Hamilton keeper...

Now this is a realistic target.....
Higuain, Perisic and Mkhitaryan will not be signing.

Are people forgetting that every other team has also been financially strengthened with the TV money? There's going to be a whole load of average players moving for insane amounts of money this summer.

Now this....
