Everton Transfer Thread 2016

....Swiss CB, good age. Played against the Reds a couple of times in this season's Europa League and is reportedly interesting Inter.

Sounds good, but can't get in the Swiss side ahead of Djourou? Or Senderos until recently. I know that's not always a great gauge, but does worry me a bit...surely if he's that good he would be able to play for Switzerland? They aren't exactly blessed with talent.

So is there a point where it's legitimate to wonder if Everton are having trouble attracting targets? I know that the window isn't "technically" open, but there's already been quite a bit of player movement already. Having new money is great, but my concern is that EVERYONE has money (the Crystal Palace bid yesterday grabbed my attention). I have no doubt that we will sign players--but I suppose I expected us to have some news to announce by now.

Patience, although I agree that palace being able to make 38m euro bids is a bit of a wake up call with regard to us thinking we can now compete for players with huge fees... Seems everyone can now !

Yep, that time comes when we actually start talking to players and they start turning us down.

Not now before we've even bid for anyone and the window isn't even open!

Hope we do the bulk of our inbound transfers from outside the PL, even with the brexit implications.

Having an exotic name does not make someone a better player, but it is becoming increasingly clear that £100M won't get us as far as we would like to think.

Our financial position should have improved relative to our competitors, but its not as if we are operating at an any advantage either. Every club it seems, has money to spend.

With a new stadium on the horizon I wouldn't expect us to be liberal with spending year-in, year-out, at least not until our commercial performance improves to a significant degree.

I sound like a broken record here, but the DoF appointment is critical to how creative and global-minded we are going to have to be when buying and selling into the future.

If one of Stones/Lukaku is sold, we will have greater flexibility to re-mould the squad. I don't think we are anywhere near as bad as two successive 11th placed finishes, but at our best we are not as good as we would like to think either. We need five or six quality additions so Koeman has a lot of work to do. Fortunately he proved at Southampton that he was very adept in this situation.

Appears that Ron has gone on his jollies again, so don't expect any signings this week.

Looks like Mandanda won't be coming after all, either.

The thing though is that Palace may be able to make one such move where hopefully we are in position to make 3 or 4.

£100m won't go far, £100m won't go far, £100m won't go far. Will people listen, we have whatever it takes within reason but it's said to be more than a £100m if necessary. It's ffp that's holding us back, not that figure that's was quoted in the Mirror which was pure guesswork.
