i would imagine the real version was Emery deal died when PSG expressed an interest. they would ahve been interested in him and planned to replace blanc so perhaps we would have got emery if PSG had not have come in for him, i mean easy choice between the two for him.Firstly - he told us that Koeman was our number one target (very soon after Martinez was sacked). However as it panned out Koeman's original agent rebuffed our advances saying he was happy at Soton and tried to push his other client FDB in our direction. We then started negotiations with Emery who then became our prime target (again Esk told us of this).
Once Koeman binned off his agent - and declared his interest our focus switched back to Koeman (again ESK said that we had a major interest in Emery but Koeman was always number one target.
And as for Monchi - as far as I'm aware that book isn't closed yet. Again I would say that overall his sources have been pretty reliable and constant throughout all the transfer shenanigans.

I really hate the way some people are just waiting for a chance to be able to berate someone who has some info to pass on and is doing so with the best intentions.
Deals can break down, players can change their mind at the last minute. No matter how good someones sources you can't expect them to be right all the time. You just have to act like a semi intelligent adult and take any info that's relayed to you for what it is.
People really need to grow up.
I've just mentioned it in another post. I blame his sources, as they've clearly told him "We're signing so and so today/tomorrow/this week" and it has failed to happen. Same with Emery, same with the Sevilla director of football. Our moderator Esk is passing on the info with all of the very best intentions, but when it doesn't come off it is very frustrating for a lot of people.
I think you have to read what he writes carefully. With Emery and Monchi I never remember him saying they were in the bag, he just said things were progressing well with both of them and at one point had umped ahead of Koeman in the cue. All of this was true. If people read that that Emery was in the bag then that's up to them but I don't think Esk said that, he just said we were meeting them and talks were going well.
That was invaluable information and given to us a long time before the papers got onto it. What in all likelihood happened was Emery got contact from PSG, stalled Everton a bit and in the end we looked elsewhere. I think I remember Esk saying when we opened up dialogue with Koeman again it was almost to call Emery's bluff and see if he could be pressured into acting. He didn't and we went with Koeman.
What Esk gives us is an insight into the complexities of running a football club, especially in the modern era. The days of ring up Joe Royle, or Kendall, have a chat on the phone, have a Chinese and a couple of pints then sign the him up over the next couple of days are gone. One massive (and largely unreported change in football) is the move towards interviewing many candidates. As short as 5 years ago generally if someone was interviewed they would get the job. It doesn't work that way now.
As with the players, Esk has told us we had agreed deals with Witsel and Mata. I have agreed much smaller deals with clients verbally but the situation can often change. We also have to appreciate footballers are people too. Witsel and Mata were always going to have a holiday and some rare time with their families. When people go on holiday they can reconsider in the same way everyone of us might reconsider changing job when we do. It is annoying but they are not going to delay their holidays because football fans on a forum can't wait 2 weeks for it to be completed.
Esk's information is as accurate as any ITK I have seen. When you know the internal world of football now the inconsistencies that emerge are reflective of how football works. Deals take time. There are ebbs and flows. If people get frustrated by that they shouldn't read forums but should just read the Echo and wait until someone is signed and be happy. Why torture yourself?
I don't think @The Esk or his sources should be blamed. Both have generally been spot on but people's viewpoint can change. I say this nicely but I would take every bit of information critically. It is not lies or misinformation but it is a snapshot into a very complex process with multiple actors. Take the information in the spirit it's meant, ie to try to cheer Evertonians up about the quality of people we are looking to get into the club.
I'd avoid it trying to be about point scoring or forum wars or pinning your hopes on his information. That's not how it's intended.

What position did he hold at Chelsea? You've been linked with our chief scout Steve Walsh who found the likes of Kante and Mahrez (and Drogba at chelsea). Apparently you want him as Director of football. I'm praying there's nothing in it as I think it could turn out to be a bigger loss than Kante
