Everton Transfer Thread 2016

But their squad is wildly different now and ours isn't sooooo irrelevant? I'm not saying it makes me feel particularly comfortable I'm just not worried about us. We've proved these players have synergies that work well when trained and taught well. We'll see come May 2017 I just know our starting XI as it is is good.

Nearly every squad is wildly different now, and that's highly relevant. There will be some significant additions to our squad this summer, so we fortunately won't get to see how the 2013/14 squad would fare three years later in a league where everyone else has moved on.

I think the worry for a number of fans is that we bide our time, and buy dross

We have no idea of what level we're currently operating at - Especially as it seems no bids were formally tabled for any of these 'marquee' signings

We have bid for Witsel, and that bid has been accepted...

Realistic with the squad in it's current form. Lose Rom and this team would struggle. Do you disagree?

we'd deffo need another forward, but the fact is the squad was in its form because of the manager (or largely, obviously the players share some of the blame).

Koeman isn't inheriting a bad squad though. He's inherited one that's under performed. There's a large difference

I know come the first game our team won't be as it is now I'm just saying this in regards to all the heads falling off like we'll be relegated if Juan Mata isn't signed this week.

Really? The fans were about to lynch him on the last day of the season and Koeman is about the standard I would expect under Kenwright. It's not like we have signed a manager with loads of champions league and big league winning experience who has managed at the very top.

We may not have got Koeman but we would have no problem getting Frank De Boer or someone similar and frankly I don't see much difference between them. I never did get the whole Koeman is a big name thing. He's a decent manager who is a huge step up from Martinez however but let's not pretend we have one of the top managers in the game, he's the very definition of a journeyman.

There's a huge difference between them. First and foremost Koeman knows what it takes to manage (successfully) in the PL

Erm managed the 3 best teams in the Netherlands, one of the best teams in Portugal and one of the former biggest teams in Spain?

If you're so confident under Kenwright we'd have gone for Koeman why did we end up with Martinez - a relegated manager - after Moyes?
What's your point? He hadn't managed any of the big European clubs fighting for their respective titles. None in Germany, Italy, Spain or England.

His time in Spain was supposed to be his step before taking over someone like Barca and he failed and has been rebuilding his career since. Again I'm not saying he's a bad manager. He did well with Southampton and has won stuff so defintely a step up from Martinez but Frank De Boer won 4 titles in a row and I don't think you would dispute we would have had any problem getting him. My point was just that under Kenwright Koeman is about the level of manager we could attract.

I'm waiting to see the Juan Matas holding up the scarf before I'm convinced much has changed. So far it has been all talk but there's still time.

Look what happened after Moyes left - we appointed a relegated manager who was inexperienced at big clubs and appointed him based off a cup final win. We've now got a manager who has won 20 trophies as a player including the European cup twice at two different clubs, has won 8 trophies at manager level in different countries and has premier league experience.

He left a good side he had built himself which had finished in Europe twice in two seasons to join the project here at Everton. What more do you want?

We've already witnessed a significant change in management.

There
