Serhiy Rebrov: "We can part ways with Yarmolenko any day now. However, I'd like to mention that we have at least 3 players on his position."

Wonder if Bobs had a look at Ben Arfa this season. Heard he was only on a 1 year deal and hes absolutely ending careers over there in france this season now that he has a manager who believes in him and allows him to be expressive, exactly the type of manager we have.

Many thought he was done after Newcastle but hes looking better than ever.

*My bad just checked couple of pages back he was getting mentioned, nice to see his name is popping up from multiple people though, would be ideal for that creative #10 role*

Theres a reason he was punted out of Geordieland and its mainly because he had a bad attitude and major fitness issues as he was turning up overweight (i think).

Also, we need players to not only perform but also to fit into the team spirit Martinez has fostered....look at Besic recently in the games basically encouraging Stones...

Potential Bad apples like ben arfa arent welcome and we dont need to go after cheap signings as a priority anymore as we have money.

I cant imagine any reason for him to make that statement unless Yarmolenko was leaving.

As @bluestevon has stated, it looks like we are trying to move players on to make room in the squad whether thats also for increased contracts lets see BUT it would make sense for us to emerge stronger out of the window as Martinez always says.

Naismith is injured so his sale is dragging on and Gibson,McGeady arent gone yet + Pienaar and Mirallas who knows.

I also think with Martinez response about the Yarmolenko question from a reporter and now Rebrovs comments we definitely seem to be the favourites for his signature.

Anything below Lukaku's fee and i think we would have a real talent whose value would soon increase to £40-50mil. We have Deulofeu's trickery on the right and would have Yarmolenkos power on the left with them changing positions during games.

mouthwatering

I agree he had massive weight issues i remember seeing the pictures at the time, but you have to hear it from both points of view, pardew is well known for making things up to benefit his public image. Ben Arfa im sure admitted himself he didnt do the best he could but he also came out and said very early on he was placed with the 16/17 year olds during training sessions with no word for months of a step up to training with the first team, if thats not a demotivation and reason for gaining weight i don't know what is. Compare that to the rumoured fallout between, distin, eto'o and bobby they both also has issues particularly Distin who disappeared into the U21s and not seen again till the end of the season, was there actually an issue we don't know despite what they say, same case with Ben Arfa.

Dont get me wrong i think he would be a huge gamble considering his irregular performances during his time at Newcastle but there is no denying under the right coaching and when on his game he is a game changer.

The last point though dumbfounds me, price is irrelevant to who we approach, Lewandowski joined Bayern for free im sure there fans didnt have the feeling "he cost nothing, we have money, this is absurd" Price is merely a number, quality is key, some of our best buys over the last 10-15 years have cost pennies compared to big money moves. Juventus in particular are the king of this sort of market and to say a players ability is based on the price that is paid is completely the wrong approach.

Well, i can see teams taking a punt on a player who could be a game changer if he was low cost / free.

But why bother taking such a gamble if they can sign proven quality with a higher % chance of success. Lewandowski was rated as one of the top strikers around and on a free was a no brainer, Ben Arfa is tainted with a bad reputation and classed a s a risk, even on a free he could upset the applecart.

Im not sure Juve themselves would be in for a player like this who could damage morale...
