I cant imagine any reason for him to make that statement unless Yarmolenko was leaving.

As @bluestevon has stated, it looks like we are trying to move players on to make room in the squad whether thats also for increased contracts lets see BUT it would make sense for us to emerge stronger out of the window as Martinez always says.

Naismith is injured so his sale is dragging on and Gibson,McGeady arent gone yet + Pienaar and Mirallas who knows.

I also think with Martinez response about the Yarmolenko question from a reporter and now Rebrovs comments we definitely seem to be the favourites for his signature.

Anything below Lukaku's fee and i think we would have a real talent whose value would soon increase to £40-50mil. We have Deulofeu's trickery on the right and would have Yarmolenkos power on the left with them changing positions during games.

mouthwatering

Rebrovs stance when asked about Yarmolenko has always been consistent, he states that he wants him to stay and if he has anything to do with it he will do - states he is vital to them, irreplaceable etc and then states that Surkis is the one that ultimately decides, but he never ever lets it be known that he is anything but 100% about needing him to stay.

This latest interview, which i have read and translated from the original source is as different as can be, states that any player can move on should the offer be a fair one, states that he expects him to leave sooner or later and has already made plans for that eventuality and then most tellingly draws a comparison with when he himself leaving Kiev for Spurs and how he understands why and that the player will and should be allowed to leave if the right offer/opportunity comes in.

Just looking at this, seems that he has been told by player/owner that a move will happen sooner rather than later now and has changed his entire attitude to the media to basically say 'I'm fine with him leaving'

Really can't highlight how much of a change in the way he talked about the possible transfer of him when asked over all previous times this has been.

Hope it is to us, but pretty sure we won't see Yarmolenko playing again for Kiev now either way

....this morning's press suggesting Byram is on his way to his preferred choice, Everton. One report about Tim Howard moving to Colorado Rapids.

After the manager the other day saying he would ask the chairman to allow him available to select then seems like he got knocked back on that which suggests that the deal is basically signed and sealed - or the player isn't even in the city atm - off Goodison having his medical maybe
I think I heard talks were scheduled for Sunday? More than likely paper talk.

So, Stevon, Yarmolenko is looking extremely likely to go SOMEWHERE but where?
US - Why not? We've been chasing him for a long time and he knows we're after him.
Spurs - Not heard of any interest apart from that one 'talksh**t' 'journalist.
Dortumund - Fantastic team/opportunity but it's in the German league
Arsenal - Latest spurious link from the S*n.

I think we look the most likely, in all honestly. Martinez could be pulling another one out of the bag.

The Spurs rumours date back to about 2 seasons ago - not sure if Poch was even in charge of them back then, but yeah been absolutely nothing since and could argue that their starting 11 is pretty set now - it's depth thats letting them down

Arsenal have been linked a few times by rags like the sun, mirror, metro etc, not one time have they been linked by anything with any credibility at all, large fan base lots of clicks though which is why they always surface

Dortmund - DID have an interest in the Summer but got knocked back before we did for not being a prestigious enough league - think also they bid lower than we did as well, latest rumour has them linked with a 11m and a 30yo player exchange deal, seems jarg - IF they are going to pay 21-25m for him when they are well stocked in those positions seems unlikely imo - also player has often stated he wants to play in the prem so their is that.

US - Never pulled completely away from the deal, didn't slag Kiev off for messing us around, and of all the clubs who bid or showed interest we were the only ones that Surkis came out and actively stated was good enough and he would have allowed the player to move to if we had bid earlier on, player seemingly had all but agreed terms with us as well, looking at the nature of the man - i honestly think he will honour the deal should we keep after him, there is a lot to be said for being wanted THAT badly by a manager/club, especially when moving to a different country and league.

IF we don't get him i think it will be because we try to be funny buggers with the fee - but having been so close in the summer i just don't see us not taking the chance to get him now he seems to be available

I really wish I had your confidence all 3 other teams rumoured would seem to be much more attractive propositions than us at the minute.

couple years back I would have loved to see Ben arfa at Everton. no doubting the guy is quality and could have made a difference.

but after Newcastle didn't want him and he couldn't get a game at Hull either, clearly he isn't the right player for the club.

Two of them are totally fabricated rumours though mate, Arsenal and Spurs interest is from a few years ago that gets rehashed every window with zero new developments, think both moved on a long time ago.

Dortmund is the one worry, the four things that give me confidence though is the owner Surkis was very disparaging about the league and that Yarmolenko deserves a bigger platform - as in Spain or England, Yarmolenko himself has long stated that aside from Barca the only place he wanted to go was the premiership, and that the Dortmund bid is reported as being a part exchange deal which i can't see being realistic, the fourth thing would be the fact that Surkis and Yarmolenko both seem out the norm in the fact they both seem to value the way business is looked to be done as much as the final fee/wage etc they can make, something which stands us in good stead the fact we seemed for once to conduct the negotiations in the summer in a very good manner.

Not daft like, if it was a straight fight between us and Dortmund then there is only one winner, but the situation when dealing with Ukrainian clubs and Kiev in particular is a world away from normal negotiations.

Think my confidence stems mainly from ignoring a lot of the stuff being churned out in the British/International media and just looking at the original sources coming out of the interviews and genuine Ukrainian outlets, we are in pole position with both club and player
