Everton Transfer Thread 2016

can't see mccarthy going unless we bring in another central midfielder. I'd sell for the quoted £18m, and possibly accept sissoko as his replacement as i'd see that as an upgrade. Sissoko is massively erratic, but he is someone who can be a match winner. McCarthy is more consistent but is not someone i would call a match winner. A winner of man of the match awards yes, but not a match winner.

The point i made was simple...

Baines, Jags, Barry and Williams will be going downhill over the next 2 seasons and not be top 4 quality players (class players) then or now

The reply was thst they will be class in 3 seasons...

I dont understand how i can be wrong.

Well it's quite simple mate - you can be wrong the second you allow yourself to entertain any other view than your own ;)

Yep. Thats all my point was about barry jags and baines...williams too in 2 seasons time.
The aim of the game is to get top 6 minimum this season, we have the squad to achieve that, coupled with building a new stadium, that will help bigtime to attract class players to replace Williams, Baines and Jags.

I happen to think Baines and Jags are still top quality players and have another 3 seasons in them, Baines has been training all summer while the Euro's was going on to get back to his best, or very near it, both are top pro's, Jags is the best defender at the club.

I wish Baines would start to show some form again, he's been really poor for so long. Might be due to injuries, but he's supposed to be fully fit now and still looks a shadow of the player he was two years ago. Remember his two free kicks against West Ham? Looks like a different player nowadays. Hope he returns, but feel from next season it's time to look for a new long-term left back.
I hate to agree with this but you are right.

That is the impression I have as well. Don't think he is playing mind games , believe genuinely he knows right now the chances of signing more are are quite low now. So the right back and the attacker left to go before we call it a day and at least have a slightly better squad, and Walsh spends the next 4 months identifying the players we need so we can sort them out in January.
Of course they are low. The money isn't there and there's no point in getting people's hopes up now just to have an even bigger fume come the close of deadline day.

Agreed. Anybody know the reason its open during the season, other than exposure?

honestly. no idea. I think the season should have started a few weeks later because of the euros, i mean liverpool being handed 3 gimme points in a fixture they'd normally get 0 in was stupid. And then that would give an extra few weeks for the transfer window as well.

There is no reason imo why it should be open after the season start - player protection? so player's who thought they'd be playing have the opportunity to ask for a move?
