Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Past January windows would suggest we don't leave it stronger with the departures of Jelavic, Eto'o and Heitinger with the only notable addition being McGeady. If Naismith goes I don't expect a single penny of it to be spent. Not saying it would be Bobby's fault as there is only so much he can do. Sit on the cash and spend half of it in the summer seem to be the boards way of working.
His first January window Martinez sold Jelavic and brought in Traore and McGeady.

His second January window Martinez let Eto'o leave and signed Lennon on loan.

This January so far we've seen Foulds and Trashaj in and no one released yet.

But then you said yourself there, the past. West ham were bad in the past for example, but right this minute they are performing better, and last season just as good (same points). If anything, it is a worrying flare in how much we have stagnated and gone backwards if a poor (and relegated) team can progress to the point in being better or at least matching us after all that.

I am just saying there is some sort of belief that we are better than we actually are at times, like some undeserved mantle that we are too good to be where we are even though a lot of years we apparently 'under perform'. We struggled to win last season, We are struggling to win this year as well. That is a constant here, never mind the league, the results are only marginally better going from defeats to draws. Still keeps us midtable and still puts us no closer to being where so many fans expect us to be year on year.

I dont think having one woeful season, and then a half season of some really great stuff combined with frustrating and unbelievable throwing away of leads means a constant. Position wise yup, but it doesn´t tell the full story. Hell of difference between the team last season and this season.

The point, which you seem to be missing, is you seem to be indicating the likes of Wham and Lester have a higher standing than us in the game currently and Byrams decision is some indicator of that. The point being put to you, and that most fans would put to you, is that a one off (history would point to it most likely being a one off) season for one team and a very good season for another (in which they are only 6 ahead of us) says nothing of the sort.

If the situation were to continue on for a couple of seasons you might have a point but now no.

Would you watch Lukaku at CB? I understand the idea and partial humor (i think) but he has been poor when moved there not necessarily obviously but his positional sense really has been awful which is ridiculous since he came up in that position.

No, I wouldnt like to watch Rom at CB.

Yes I can imagine enjoying Stones in any position except keeper, because he is technically fantastic on the ball.

I definitely couldnt use hard to watch to describe him.

anyways. I realise most of the stuff im replying to is off topic and im off topic too....so sorry!

Ok well I think you're being pedantic with a word and looking past the fact he has been bad in a positional sense there and it's been highlighted by everyone ranging from major media outlets to former managers (you just made me invoke tactical analysis from Bwenda :rant:) so I think it's romanticized to think he could play at any position because he looks so good because he has the most time in his position and all the options ahead of him.

Anyways we should sign a striker!

Shola has left Bolton, they can't afford to pay him. We could use him as cover till the summer when more and better players will be available.
