Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Yes, and massively under performing. Just going on games we have conceded silly goals in we could be minimum 10 points probably more, better off. We are a team that scores 3, then just goes and concedes 4 to make sure we aren't winning. We are the team that twice this year conceded a 3-2 with the last kick of the game. We are the team that limited leiscter to 2 goal scoring oppertunites all game, one they missed, and yet they scored 3 times?! We are the club who have a 19 goals striker so far and have only won 6 games? or a midfielder who is close to 10 assists now surely? So yeah, we are hugely under performing to the point that the norm under martinez is currently mid table rather than top 5. Throw anything at the team, we are stuggling to get 3 points, and we struggled to get 3 points last year as well, hardly a coincidence.

If leiscter get into the champions league then they would be there on performance alone by amassing enough points. Would that make them better than us? Yes it would, they could beat more teams, including us, to get them points. Chelsea have under performed as well, but if come the end of the season they are in the top 6-7 then they have had a indifferent season. Point is if they finished 18th then they would deservidly go down as one of the worst teams in the league, champions or not. The League doesn't lie.

And over the past 5 seasons, ok our last 5 league positions, from oldest to now, 7-7-6-5-11. So outside of europe 3 out of 5 times, pretty much means we didn't achieve anything in those seasons. What does that tell you?

You typed all that whilst either ignoring the point or missing it completely.

Leicester in the last 5 seasons have been worse than us. Part of that in a league below us.
West Ham also worse than us and one of those seasons in a league below us. Last season in one of our worst seasons in recent times, we still finished above them.
Leicester are having a fantastic season thus far. Well done. Lets see where they finish and what they do in the coming seasons.
West Ham are having possibly their best season in I dunno how long. In this amazing season for them, they have a humongous 9 points more than us.

Context is always nice.

Glass half empty people all over this forum.

We are fine. Yes, times aren´t great right this minute but can we please wait until we actually have a disaster or theres impending doom before we starting accordingly?

6 more points than us m8

Is it Debuchy we are after or Callum Chambers Darth??

Debut is obviously the better player now but how much hunger has he got left. His big wage etc, I'd have preferred Chambers. I know he's having a bit of a bad patch but his ceiling is higher, he still has it all to achieve and he was also very highly rated and actually had a good start to his Arsenal career after a big move so young. At one stage people saying he was better than Shaw.

I think Bobby could bring him to those levels again and we have been linked previously and he is the type of signing we should be looking to make although I do expect a few to be underwhelmed.

Obviously we need to add the odd Yarmalenko type signing but Chambers would be a good buy could also be a long term centre half solution which is his best position.

Was told Debuchy mate but would seem wide of the mark as he looks to be off to Villa

From all accounts (Barrett esp, who is always spot on), we did all we could to get him. Offered Leeds more money up front, offered Byram a very suitable wage. The only thing we couldn't guarantee him was a first-team place from the off - West Ham can do that. And I think that indicates that our (albeit underperforming) squad is better than theirs.

I think this is it. He has a quicker line to Starting Spot. He has family there, Draw of London and a New Stadium, Supposedly a fan of WH. It didn't work out. Sometimes we miss a player. What are you going to do.

But then you said yourself there, the past. West ham were bad in the past for example, but right this minute they are performing better, and last season just as good (same points). If anything, it is a worrying flare in how much we have stagnated and gone backwards if a poor (and relegated) team can progress to the point in being better or at least matching us after all that.

I am just saying there is some sort of belief that we are better than we actually are at times, like some undeserved mantle that we are too good to be where we are even though a lot of years we apparently 'under perform'. We struggled to win last season, We are struggling to win this year as well. That is a constant here, never mind the league, the results are only marginally better going from defeats to draws. Still keeps us midtable and still puts us no closer to being where so many fans expect us to be year on year.
