Everton Transfer Thread 2016

The Evening Standard has reported that Byram is likely to be loaned out by WHU. Jenkinson - on loan from Arsenal - has been an almost ever-present for them this season and, by all accounts, they're happy with him.

If true, it kind of diminishes the 'first choice for West Ham' claim.

Sam Byram was undergoing a medical today prior to joining West Ham from Leeds for £3.7million.

Everton had an offer for the full‑back accepted at the weekend but Byram wanted to think things over and has decided on a move to Upton Park.

West Ham would have preferred to do a deal in the summer as by then Carl Jenkinson’s loan from Arsenal would have expired. However, Everton’s intervention during this transfer window has forced their hand and it is possible Byram could be loaned out for the rest of the season to give the 22-year-old regular football.

Really can't see it. They've been playing Tomkins at full back and according to West Ham fans Jenkinson has usually been used as an impact substitute.

I'm over Byram tbh, not convinced about him anyway.

I think that's us done in terms of incoming players tbh. The squad was too big.

Not really, because they would have said to him that Jenkinson's loan ends in 6 months and from then on he will be first choice. We can't make any promise like that, it's not like we're going to sell Coleman in the summer to make way for him.

Fair point. To be honest I was just trying to muster up an interest in a back-up right back I have very little opinion on.

This is true. He is from West Ham territory (Thurrock) which is just several miles up the A13 to West Ham. He is going back to where he was born and brought up so that has a big say in his choice. If West Ham didn't show any interest then I am sure he would have come to us. Just one of those things.

He moved up to York when he was about 2 or 3 apparently mate. He certainly speaks with a Yorkshire accent.

But supposedly due to his family he was brought up a West Ham fan.

Lads it's Sam Byram not Cafu, I certainly won't be losing any sleep over missing out on him. If we'd really really wanted him we'd have got him.

If Naismith, Gibson and McGeady leave, we need one more player in.

Not really, we still have Mirallas, Lennon, Pienaar and Del for the wide areas, Besic, Barry, McCarthy and Cleverley for central midfield, Barkley for the number ten role, with Osman, Cleverley Kone and Mirallas also able to play there. That's enough with 16 games left.

True, but with injuries that could dwindle. Would like to see Dowell get a bit of playing time at the end of the season as well.

But I think a back-up striker on loan would be good business.

A new keeper as well, we can hope (please leave Tim, it's time)

Maybe we'll go after that striker from Bolton now, if we're actually interested in him. It's likely they'll want to sell some players given they're struggling with a winding up order because of their debts.
