According to The Times, Everton are weighing up a move to sign Emelec goalscorer Miller Bolanos, with Roberto Martinez searching for new additions.

The Toffees have been underachieving in the Premier League this season, and currently find themselves sat in 12th place, with no win in their last five games.

Wednesday's Capital One Cup semi-final defeat to Manchester City has again piled the pressure on manager Martinez, and fans want answers after a poor campaign so far.

With just days left of the transfer window, Everton have only brought in Shani Tarashaj from Grasshopper Zurich, but have sent the youngster back to the Swiss club for the rest of the season.

Now, The Times report that Everton are considering a swoop for Emelec forward Miller Bolanos, who has been making waves in South America.

The Ecuador international, 25, has hit 60 goals in his last 96 games for Emelec, and his record in Ecuador is unsurprisingly turning heads in Europe.

With the ability to play as a forward or out wide, Bolanos may be hoping to follow in the footsteps of international team-mates Juan Carlos Paredes, Antonio Valencia, Enner Valencia and Jefferson Montero by making a move to the Premier League.
Is it really Miller time?

The teams that are strengthened are the usual suspects - Newcastle, Sunderland and the promoted teams who are all in or around the bottom three, bar Watford.

Leicester? Palace? Chelsea? I'm sure Spurs will bring in another as well. Some of these teams are not even that far away from us. It would be unbelievable if we were arrogant enough to weaken our squad whilst sitting in 12th in January. Unbelievable.

Chelsea need to do so because they've had a much worse season than us. And who have they brought in anyway, Pato? The lad is tosh...

Palace??? They've got Adebayor for God's sake!

Leicester aren't anywhere near us, they're going for the title, of course they'd strengthen, and even then, they've only got two or three (one of them being a youngster and the others being cheap deals from the continent).

Always an excuse for everything. We're sitting here in 12th and your argument basically is 'it doesn't matter that the teams below is and above us are strengthening because they are below us and above us'.

Of course they might not be buying long term first team players, not many teams do on this window. But teams will but in youngsters or loans, yes even the odd overpayment for a player because they are gambling to see if they will improve. What are we doing? As of yet nothing. Other teams are showing ambition and using the tv money, so far we are doing neither.

Based on what I've just seen of Ecuadorian goalkeepers and defending, the Strac would be a 1 in 2 striker over there.

The only undeniable fact about RM is that his transfer record is very good.

EFC needs another no 9 and it has to be a player who is not at the top because we don't buy top players. For that kind
of biz, RM is boss. Where RM falls down is his goalie selection and crap substitutions and his incorrect use of the word'phenomenal'.

Working today so will see if there's any update on the wire on that loan move for Ramos. As I said, it was only referenced that we'd made an enquiry
