Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Will be a very, very interesting summer. If Lukaku or Stones want to leave it's only if we are offered stupid money.

We don't need to sell to generate funds, we actually now already have money from new investment and have the mega TV deal kicks on this summer. It's on our terms, or no sale, for both players.

If Lukaku goes, it's only because we are offered a deal that's just too good to turn down. Again, same with Stones.

Has Martinez seen performances this season and thinks 40m for Stones would, now, be too good to turn down? That buys two top-end proven players plus a backup player or two...

If Stones is 40m, then Lukaku has to be a lot more. 60m upwards you'd be looking at as too good to turn down imo. He's no longer just potential; he's the best striker in the entire country, and he's only 22.

Whatever happens with those two - and for the record I desperately hope we keep them both - I think we need a top goalkeeper, a creative midfield player (bearing in mind next year is likely Barry's last season with us, Osman is gone this summer (lol) and Pienaar and Gibson will also be leaving) and some stronger backup in various positions, namely right back and up front.

Should be a massive turnover this summer, as we'll almost certainly lose up to seven players from the squad (Howard, Hibbert, Gibson, Osman, Pienaar, McGeady, Kone...) and thus have freed-up wages and additional transfer funds to plug the gaps with more quality.

Might a deal for Yarmolenko be agreed and ready to be announced before the Euros?

Interesting times ahead.

The Rooney shout. This is unrealistic. We won't pay the fee Man Utd ask for. He is 31 in October. I would love to have him back but only if it is a small fee.

Putting on Football Manager head, trying to remain relatively realistic...

Definitely sold/released should be:
Howard (50k), Hibbert (30k), Osman (30k), Gibson (30k), Pienaar (50k)
- 10m a year saved in wages!

Likely sold/released should be:
McGeady (40k), Kone (40k)
- 4m a year saved in wages!

Of these players, we only really need to replace Howard (need a new starting keeper) and Kone (need better backup up front). The rest have not contributed at all, all season/for several years. If we sell Howard, McGeady and Kone we could bring in, say, a minimum of 5m in fees total.

Mirallas also could go let's not forget, so further money generated (easily 8m, and 2.5m wages saved).

We've then saved 16m in wages, and got 13m transfers, with loads of deadwood gone, and money to spend, plus further funds generated by getting rid of said players above.

We look at what we know we need:
- Goalkeeper
- Striker backup

Then also what we'd like to further strengthen the squad:
- Yarmolenko?
- Creative midfielder
- Right back cover

If Mr Moshiri is prepared to enable 30m in transfer funds, plus the 13m we generate, we can easily get a top goalkeeper, Yarmolenko and a creative midfielder from abroad, probably even that right back cover we need too.

In terms of wages saved and what would be spent on new players' wages coming in, we'd have saved 16m, Yarmolenko would surely get around 70k, similar for a top keeper (7m so far in wages), plus that creative midfielder taking it to just over 10m a year for the three.

Man, I wanna be a football manager!
