Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Bit of news from Kiev, and pretty understandable under our managerial circumstances.

Throughout the whole Yarmolenko saga, Everton have been by far the most active club in talks.

No longer in contact.
We are clearly aiming higher than a 27y/o, unproven in a real league, speculative footballer.

Yarmalenko would still be a good player for us make no mistake.

BUT

He is a martinez player, the same manager who would have played him out of his natural position to fit him in the team, so dodged a bullet there. I mean cleverley and Kone don't cover that role so neither would Yarmalenko.

Personally, don't want any more martinez players, i want players identified by the new manager. I want this to be his team, not martinez's one still.

I still think he was just the right player at the right time for the right price. His change in contract situation increased his fee massively, I seriously doubt we would go back in for him for what the owner would be asking for with the new contract.

If we would have got him for the figures quoted at the time, it would have been good - but i do think it was definitely just a timing thing.

We don't have a clue what we need as we might have a different manager, don't know who going to be sold. Crazy summer ahead

A couple of links on the net rate him as the best defender in belgium. Hes 6'4 as well and apparenrly can pass out from the back it says on 'outside of the boot' site.

He's actually very good. Strong, can pass a ball, is an intelligent defender (something we can use) and is a leader.
He's very close to the national team and has a good chance of going to the Euros.
We should buy him. Maybe he can organise our defense?!

We should first buy/build a great defense and defensive midfield. From that we can start to work on the rest. But it would be nice next season to know that if we have a 2 goal lead, the match is actually won.
I don't care for fancy names (yarmolenko and better etc) actually. Bjorn Engels for example is a type of player we need. No fancy name but he's really good and won't cost that much (for PL standards).

Agreed. 14 million for him would have been a massive bargain ala Konoplyanka being available for whatever signing on fees he eventually cost sevilla (being a complicated deal).

yep 100%... would have been a great deal at the time, and for that price we would have been foolish not to have pursued. I just think we have moved on, he will probably end up at the RS or someone like them.

However based on that video - we will have to stop being so gentlemanly and bending over when we play that lot - and get a couple of snides to knock him clean out if he volleys barkley for scoring and bowing infront of the kop.

To be fair "Bjorn Engels" is abit of a fancy name?
Its not like hes callled "Dave Smith"

haha yeah, just stick mirallas on him, literally keep him only for derby games to keep yarmlenko in check.

Perhaps Yarmalenko should signal the end of our poor negotiations from now on also? We are notoriously bad for signing players, be nice if that changed from now on. Not arsed about their chairman, if united or chelsea wanted Yarmalenko last summer they would have signed them last summer. The player wanted to move, the club was open to the sale at that time, and we just towed the line instead waiting for it to be ok'd.
