Everton Transfer Thread - Summer 2020

I think we're caught in a trap where the players know they cant compete at the high end of the league and know that any where near 10th is par for the course at this club and there hasn't been a ruthless cull to send a message by those upstairs that its not good enough. Among them they know they probably have more ability than most of the clubs players below them (and even some above like Sheff Utd and Burnley) and know that just by playing in 3rd gear most of the time and reaching for 4th gear now and again in certain games at home they will do enough to maintain the status quo with no pressure of relegation and no pressure of top 4 or cup finals to deal with. Until the message is sent from above by FM or MB this will just continue I fear. Look at Delph for example......happy to come hear and do nothing. Walcott similar. Kean? Still young but totally underwhelmed so far. Pickford? Doesn't seemed threatened does he laughing like a guy on the school yard having a kick about when 3 down......and the list goes on :dodgy:

I applaud your patriotism mate but Weston McKennie isn't the answer to our problems. Bang average at best. Defo no stand out in a poor S04 team.

Silva past it.

Gabriel and Allan...... who really knows? Could be more expensive flops ! Although of the 4 mentioned its these 2 that would prob improve side the most. In my view.

I could not care less what nationality McKennie is. I think he's a good fit for a 442

Ok. Sound I dont care either. However I'm saying I personally dont think he's good enough. You saw our abortion of a midfield yesterday. Put him in instead of either Davies or Siggurdsson and the levels of improvement versus the cost aren't worthwhile. The juice isn't worth the squeeze.

This upcoming window isn’t gonna solve all our problems, that’s for sure, and I’m not expecting us to be challenging for anything next season, but sorting out the midfield would be a start, and has to be the priority.

A ball winner and someone comfortable carrying the ball and bringing the forwards into play are a must. Need to be quick, strong and athletic.

Hopefully sorting out the engine room would improve the defence as they currently get zero protection, as well as improving our attack getting more out of Richy, Gordon, DCL

Ideal world, we’d see a new keeper, CB, RB, CF and winger, but think that’s unlikely be sorted in 1 window, so this window want to see Carlo/Brands address the most pressing issue.

In terms of Ins:
First priority CM x2
Second priority GK
Third priority RB

In terms of Outs:
Siggy
Iwobi
Pickford
Bernard
Davies
Walcott
Mina
Delph
Tosun

How've we got into a position where we've got 9 wage (and oxygen) thieves that I can think of off the top of my head on our books, the majority of whom are on in excess of 60k a week.

Laughable.

I wonder how many teams above us have people on 100k+ a week like Burnley/Sheff United/Wolves.
Wolves will have plenty. They thrown plenty of money around to get back into the Prem and to stay there and fair to play to them, they're getting value for money.

Burnley however wont pay big wages

Bolasie too.

I massively agree about Pickford and Siggy, they are the two I suspect would be top of the "troublemaker" list and I would put Delph third but obviously think his influence is probably diminished by the fact he is made of glass and barely plays.

Obviously all conjecture, but based on their on field antics and professionalism (Delph on instagram raises alarm bells rather than his on field antics) I would put these near the top. Only worry about Siggy is Carlo putting him in his 3 to eventually be top managers a few weeks back.
Doesn't matter about who he has said could be a manager i wouldnt of thought as there could be a number of reasons why he said it. He will be watching the same games we are and seeing siggy just floating round the pitch and pulling out of challenges week in week out. He's only playing now out of need too because we don't have any other players that are fit

I Know we need major work but I keep clinging to a hope that one or two key signings might make a real difference . Looking at what Fernandes did at United and the impact of the Keeper and centre half at the RS . We need a rebuild but how likely is that , maybe we’ll have to hope key transfers make a real impact ?

It would only take one top striker in this league, look at arsenal, their defence and midfield is just as spineless, slow and static as ours, but aubamayeng has them up the table instead of bottom 3rd. Leicester similarly, they've got a couple of good players again, but vardy is the sole reason they're so high. Soton, they could put 10 kids with Danny ings and be 14 the rest of the team contributes that little. They'd be looking at derby's 11 point haul if it weren't for him.

Obviously we wont be looking at a striker, but if we could blow £50m on someone really really good who bangs them in that'd take us up the table a lot quicker than persissting with this model of splashing £25m at every player.
