Everton Transfer Thread - Summer 2020

Reading through the BBC Comments to the Doucoure and Allan links.. lets say not the most complimentary? Yes fans like to hate on other clubs, but general opinion is average players and we not really trying to break the ceiling with these. We're certainly not turning heads at the moment.. Maybe not turning heads and being smart is whats happening.. I can only hope

Honestly, who else except kopites actually comment on those things? I'm sure they're direct links from cbbc bitesize.

Still very very quiet in the transfer market as a whole. I fear we may have to be patient for a little while yet. That's the problem with the transfer window closing after the season starts.

*And us not being able to shift any number of our utterly horrendous squad players.

People have rewritten history on Stones.. he had some dicy moments, but was easily the best we had and covered his co centre backs often.. His ceiling is huge and should be playing week in and week out. I don't know where his head is anymore but he was worth every cent of the money City paid for him.
I don’t think any man city fan will agree with you. He made far too many mistakes. Had a great game v Swansea thiugh

I never based my opinion of him on 45 minutes of football. I just said it was the best 45 minutes I'd seen by an Everton player in 30 years. They are not the same thing.

To compare with Alcaraz is also simply ludicrous. Stones' performance in that second half was absolutely world class by any measurement. As I said in my post, it showed the level he was capable of at the time.

And nowhere have I said I wanted him back. In fact I said I'm not sure I want him back as these things don't usually work out well.

Anyway, you can remember all the bad things Stones did for us. I'll remember the player who got capped by England as a 19yo, was good enough to get Chelsea to allegedly bid over £40m for him, and for City to pay a then world record fee of £50m for a defender who had just turned 22.
I’m with you on Rooney’s second half v man utd. Remember that performance. Absolute quality.
But when you mention clubs bidding for players as a representation of their quality holds some argument but not a lot if they ultimately fail at that club. He’s at an age now where he should have kicked on, improved and be in demand. Instead, he’s being sold by a team who are desperate for defensive improvements. Hindsight’s easy, but we get that benefit. Chelsea and man city years ago didn’t. And they’ve been proved wrong. I don’t get your pointer?
Capped by England? Do you really want me to list a load of other names, or just point to the fact that England are a poor international team?

You say the best 45 minutes of football you've seen in 30 years of watching everton is from John stone's and I'm being ludicrous?!

Your statment genuinely makes me feel depressed. That in your 30 years of football the highlight is watching John stone's loosing a semi final...we're proper crap aren't we:(
Been watching 50 years mate, not 30.

And yes, generally over the last 30 years we have been pretty crap. But every now and then we get some good moments. I prefer to remember those and not get myself depressed.

A question for the financially on the ball - if we spend £50m on Allan and Doucoure, with regards to FFP, we have to sell don’t we? I thought we were very close to breaching last season?

I’m not referring to his time at City though... he definitely hasn’t been as successful as he should have been
We think Everton is a big stage, but it really isn’t. Playing for clubs every week who expect to win and the demand is league titles is completely different. He wasn’t good enough for this. That’s half our problem as fans, we overrate far too many players who play for our club. The top players play at clubs that demand victories every week. And those players will always be better than the ones where you can draw away from home and be satisfied. Different pressure and different quality of players for me.
