....whilst it’s useful to have a versatile player in your squad (Sandy Brown, Alan Harper, Kevin Richardson etc), I much prefer us to acquire a central midfielder when we need a central midfielder.

Brookes is a bit like the Maddison situation when he was at Norwich.......a lot of fans weren't too sure about him but he's proved them wrong at Leicester. Brookes could be another case in point, who knows?

We should be fighting to get Brooks from Bournemouth.........a genuine talent, similar goals to appearance ratio with that of James Maddison. Brooks would add the creativity we so desperately need and has just turned 23. If Bournemouth were happy to accept £40m for Ake then Brooks should be attainable for less, with the added resale potential, if that's a consideration for some?

Agree we needed a new midfielder in at least to bed in. It will all be last minute again if there is no movement this week.
