Let's not think that way. I don't think James has the legs for central midfield, or at least he won't have any left by Christmas. It has to be a change of system to accommodate him. And no that doesn't make him a luxury player as creating chances is not a luxury but a necessity.

It means the team won't be playing 4-4-2 if we sign him. That's my guess at least. I guess you could do it but I don't love that formation to start so I hope not.

Look there are questions with James. Injuries, age, money, it is all there to wonder about. But at his best he is far better than any attacking player we've had in years so in this case I'm just going to be excited about it.

It really can't be more. 12 months on his contract and it is pretty clear that they don't want him. Honestly 25m seems high but they have so much money that they'll eat the last year and take no fee before they get lowballed.
