Everton Transfer Thread - Summer 2020

From what I've heard we are actively trying to get rid and Carlo isnt having any of his "I want to stay and fight for my place" rubbish.

Tosun also took being subbed off by Big Dunc to heart and apparently they dont see eye to eye.

You also have to factor in that its in a players benefit to lower their wages to get a longer contract elswhere.

James Rodriguez is a perfect example of that - take a pay cut and get a salary coming in for the next 3 yrs or sit around at Real and be guaranteed nothing next season.

Same way if Tosun was to half his wages and move to a Celtic type club on a 4-5 year deal it benefits him more than sat on our bench for 2 years, his contract expiring and potentially having no half decent club wanting to offer him a contract bar the duck and dogs local side at a fiver per game.

Unfortunately carlo has no say in the matter. If Cenk wants to play snooker all day and pick up his 60k or whatever he’s on for next two years then there is zero anyone at the club can do.

Say Tosun earns 80k a week at Everton - has 2 years left on his deal. Doesnt play in that time, loses place in the international set up and when his contract expires no one realistically touches him bar some 2nd division outfit offering him peanuts.

Or he joins a Celtic for 40k a week on a 4-5 year deal - earns roughly the same as he would at Everton or more, keeps his place in the international set up, plays regular football and also has the chance to get a move elswhere if he performs well and a higher paid contract.

People seem to believe that the likes of Sandro, Bolasie etc are happy never playing football and want to leech the club dry.

Thats not the case.

Following on from my last post as well, why would he leave to take 5 years to earn what he could in 2?? I’m sorry but nobody would do that.

JR incoming but is it just a season long loan or permanent signing or maybe even loan with option to buy?
I've read different things.
I think it’s the latter. I reckon it’ll be a loan with an option/obligation to buy.
We take on his wages this year but fee isn’t paid til next year at which point we James gets a contract from us.

If he wants to play football he will.

Tosun isnt daft - he knows he hit the jackpot here however he's also a professional athlete and he wont be happy sat not playing for another 2 years.

As is the case with Rodriguez- do you think James will be happy taking a likely 50% or so paycut to join Everton?

Not being funny mate if I was on 60/80k a week guaranteed for the next 2 years, why would I half it? He might get injured after one game. They love footy but I’m sure they love that money more.

James will be on loan then a free agent. Even if we pay a fee, either way the lad will likely be getting an enormous signing on fee to offset the drop in his wage.

....Tosun won’t be sitting around for 2 seasons, he will get game time somewhere on loan guaranteeing his salary.

Not necessarily- Sandro had to agree to a paycut for his loan move to that Spanish outfit last season.

I dont know why people are jumping on my opinion tbh - no one knows whats gonna happen regarding outs so lets wait and see eh lol

My only concern with option to buy after season loan is that he has a belter of a year with us then gets tempted by someone bigger/better/richer.
On the other hand if it's obligation to buy he could have an horrendous year with us and then we're stuck with him!
I'm torn.
I think out of the two choices though I'd rather take the risk and just make sure we get him in.

It’s a risk. The fact that it’s a risk is probably the only reason we’ve got a chance.
I think all being equal I’d rather we signed him but I can see how a loan might suit all parties.
