Wow the daily telegraph say everton tipped to get “a very good signing” if they seal transfer for £30m man United STAR!!!

was thinking who could this possibly be?

Jesse lingard again...FFS he ain’t worth nowhere near that....please avoid and don’t add to the long list of over paid sh*te

can just see it next season with a bench of Iwobi, lingard, Walcott, kean, Keane, bolasie tosun and everyone scratching there heads saying we need a winger and need to splash the cash

We aren’t getting Lingard, much in the same way we aren’t getting James, Coutinho, Bale, Gabriel, Soares or anyone else we’ve been linked with

I would think we have a good chance of getting Gabriel, you can’t be linked that much witt out being something in it. And who’s knows witt James, Ancelotti has bought him before so we can see what happens. And a lot more chance we get them 2 than lingard, which is never ever happening in a million years.

His name will definitely not even have been mentioned in discussions, unlike a few on that list

????????

mate, no he wasn't, come on. Vidic, Terry, loads better than him. And that's just centre backs.

To be honest he wasn't better than Lescott when he played for us, and he wasn't (only imo) better than Distin
Man we are going to derail the hell out of this thread but I think Distin was the best CB we've had in more than a decade. I put him above Lescott(not the Lecott/Jags partnership as that was absolute boss).

Yes he was.

He was as good as Vidic and Terry. He just wasn't in a TV favourite team. Mina, Distin, Yobo, Stones etc, not close to the same level. Phil's problem was that he played for over a decade here, and his best days came after a shaky start in the earlier period.

Lescott was fantastic too but switched off at times. I prefered him at LB but we had Baines.

Jags, Arteta and Yakubu fit and we win that 09 cup final. Always stand by that.
The 1st 2 where playing out of their skin before terrible injury, and Yak was a big occassion player.

Chelsea where one of the best sides on the planet at the time too. We had an exceptional side that season, but injuries hit. Just the case that Man U and Chelsea happened to be at their strongest point too so it is forgotten about.

His underhit backpassing rate was dreadful.

Man U, Sporting Lisbon and of course at Wembley to The Rat. Never forgive him for that one. It was criminal.

I always say if we had ONE of them fit we win that final. All 3 was a death blow.

I would say 90% of companies that sponsor PL teams are as of this moment discussing the viability going forward, even if its informal. Some will undoubtedly be exploring break clauses.

Going forward when deals run out, new ones just wont be renewed and there will be a lot less out there willing to stump up.

That's not to count the companies going out of business.

I mean if you are Nike or whoever now, and have had several weeks of no trade, you know you're in real trouble. You're in crisis mode to save jobs. Suddenly 40 million to clubs for kits you cant actually sell is an easy win.

We will be hit too, but our revenues are much less. It's a really really bad summer to be trying to find a sponsor. However if it could be sustained, and we cant find one I'd love it if we did a year as a tribute to the NHS. Magnificent stuff in terms of brand building.

In a more general sense, and I dont know how to put it in a politically correct way, but Usmanov is probably going to be far more loyal as a sponsor than most private companies, so that will likely withhold pressure.

Good points mate, i think much depends on the nature of the contracts, i suspect there might be a wide variance in these from contract to contract from club to club. Its a good point on potential impact the likely recession will have company its something i hadn't though of to be honest.

i wonder how insular we will be comparatively, i suppose its still a little bit to early to say not knowing exactly how thing will pan out. A "Support The NHS" sponsorship would be magnificent id be all for it, perhaps a tie in with a go fund me people could contribute to and the sum given to the NHS at then end of the season. Would love it!!

Broadly i think it will be interesting to see how this plays out, the PL was cocooned from the last recession largely, but this one cuts right at them, i cant remember a time that prices and wages went anything but up, it could really challenge so many in the game and actually how the game works and functions in modern times, what happens when income drops? Should be f fascinating.

I wonder how our season would ha
That's quite a revision down from "best defender in the league" as per the post above.

I'm going to be VERY candid. I don't think he was better than Distin, Yobo, Lescott or - and this might shock you - Stones.

Or possibly even Yerry Mina either.
Jagielka at his best was far far superior to Stones or Yobo... because he was a defender first of all who kept the game simple, made barely any silly mistakes and did what he was supposed to do.

Distin was a class defender absolutely no doubt, if only we could have signed him as a younger player.
Lescott was a good player but not in the same class as Jagielka, my memory is that Lescott played one season at left back because he could not get in the middle ahead of Jagielka/Distin but I may not have the correct central pairing.

One of the best tbf, between Jagielka and Lescott / Distin think only maybe at most 3 teams at any one time could boast a better pairing. Not bad going.
