Everton Transfer Thread - Summer 2020

So, I want to touch on this personally. I'm not getting upset or annoyed, it's just that Everton take so bleedin long to get anything done it sucks the excitement from a lot of transfers. Just give me a picture of the lad signing the contract and get it over with.

If you’re losing excitement because a complicated football transfer is taking time to be completed then that’s on you, not the club.

As long as they’re signed in time to start training on Monday, what does it matter if the announcement is today, tomorrow or Sunday?

it’s a proper spoiled brat attitude to have:

‘I WANT TRANSFERS WHY ARENT THE CLUB MAKING MOVES’

*club makes moves for 3 top players*

‘BUT I WANT THE TRANSFERS NOW!!! WHY CANT THEY JUST RUSH THEM THROUGH?’

I never once said it wasn't on me. I simply said that it takes Everton so long to conclude any deals that the "delay" (if you want to call it that) just generally kills a lot of the excitement. Sky saying they don't expect Rodriguez to leave the hotel? That makes absolutely no sense.

Because people don't just forget you exist after a couple of weaker seasons.

And while you might be right that not everything should be based on social media following (though marketing experts etc would probably argue that point), perhaps you could at least touch on the fact that Rodriguez is the 4th or 5th most followed footballer on the planet?

It's not a couple of weaker seasons, he hasn't played anything approaching a full league campaign for five years.

If he had only had a couple of weaker seasons he wouldn't be signing for a team like Everton.

The original claim was that this is the most high profile signing ever in the premier league. That is nonsense.

All I’m saying is, as long as we’re just ‘on the verge’, I can’t allow myself to get too excited. Of course mad stories of delays and issues (true or not) are going to rattle me (and others) a bit when we’re apparently so close

I take your point mate, but do you not think that pretty much every transfer story has this kind of narrative?

Its sky sports way of keeping the story relevant when they have no actual info, they suggest that something isn’t quite right, sets off major panic with the fan base, then finally they get info that there’s no problem and it’s back on, hysteria in the fan base and more exposure for the story.

If they just reported that nothing had changed with the James transfer they get none of that extra exposure

Well exactly, sky have no new info, so they’re reporting that ‘they don’t think’ (Covering their backs nicely) he will leave the hotel today.

Yet some people see this as an excuse to go into panic overload I don’t get it
