Our business looked great as our team was strengthened in comparison to clubs around us who hadn't.

Add in Thiago & Jota for kopites

Bale & Ruglion for Spurs

Leicester getting another 1-2 in

Wolves and Utd still likely to splash some dough

Our squad is that poor we need a complete overall.

Winger with pace
Back up CF
cover at CB
RB

Realistically to push for top 6.

We've just gone and won away at a top 6 rival. We've added 3 players who've improved out first 11. Not sure others have yet, we will have to see.

Add in Richarlinson, DCL, Gordon, Mina, Holgate etc who are all of an age where they get better, we will be in and around the top 6.

Thought Ancelotti might have been questioned on possible incomings other than at CB today but he was not. He may have been evasive if so but he is usually upfront.

I think he would probably be satisfied with just CB cover bearing in mind his previous evolution not revolution comments.

It's important to find new homes for lots of players but that isn't going to materialise until late in the window, if at all.

But I don't see us bringing in 3 more players. It would be 2 at a push I think. If these were loans, it will probably be more restrictive to find a decent RW available on a loan option. A 2nd additional signing could be dependent on shifting 3 or 4 players alone.

The squad is enormous. We all know a CB is essential now regardless, I’m sure he’ll want more but until we get rid of a few it ain’t happening

8th-9th for me.

Business started off well then the usual suspects we will be competing with have started opening up the chequebooks and suddenly our business doesn't give us such a large advantage.

We need another 2-3 for me to expect top 6/7.

You need to chill out man. You bang on about how other teams are doing better business then us has made our transfers less of a big deal.

Then of the 5 teams you quote only two have done any significant business and two of them are champions league teams and one of them is the league champions.

Do you have any idea of how much of a bed wetter you sound like?

"Oh no! Other teams in the league might spend money and buy players. If we don't buy 8 more players we're DOOMED!!!"

It's so boring seeing you and other posters on this fourm spouting the same negative, nonsensical rhetoric over and over.

Cheer up man and enjoy what's going on at Everton, things are looking up be happy with that and see where it goes.

I think something that is being taken for granted is the skill parts of this squad had last season. But sometimes a team is only as good as their worst player. Bringing in Allan, Doucoure and James was not just a remodel of our midfield but a further investment of the players around them. Better balls into the box, better cover when transitioning to defense. I mean when was the last time Richy has seen that much room down the left flank before sunday? We could have (perhaps should have) closed out that game long before the 90' mark. So we can't just look at it as simply adding 3 players. This is helping the whole hopefully reach it's full potential. Even if we don't add another player.

I think 3 more in (maybe 2 loans, 1 permanent) is definitely still possible but we realistically have to shift at least half of the 9-10 named as 'potentially available' plus the few ex-academy lads hanging around to make it all possible. CB has become a must due to injuries. We will likely have to live with RB if we cannot move Kenny although we ideally want to upgrade. We'd clearly like to add another productive (proven track record of goals & assists) attacking option but we will definitely have to clear room/raise some cash to make that happen. With the enforced exception of CB cover we are at the outs to enable ins phase of our window so we need Brands to somehow shift some of the unshiftable!

For the little it is worth I tend to agree that we are more 7-9 than top 6 as things stand because our depth is unconvincing and I do not think many of the holdovers bar Iwobi or Kean have much hope of improvement. The addition of Nkounkou and continuing emergence of Gordon (and Branthwaite despite the injury setback) are the most encouraging things here. If/when Gbamin is fit (a couple more months?) that might help if he is able to quickly play at the level we were led to expect after so many injuries in such a compressed time. Fingers crossed for good news on him sooner rather than later but it is hard to bank on him yet.
