Everton Transfer Thread - Summer 2020

I think 3 more in (maybe 2 loans, 1 permanent) is definitely still possible but we realistically have to shift at least half of the 9-10 named as 'potentially available' plus the few ex-academy lads hanging around to make it all possible. CB has become a must due to injuries. We will likely have to live with RB if we cannot move Kenny although we ideally want to upgrade. We'd clearly like to add another productive (proven track record of goals & assists) attacking option but we will definitely have to clear room/raise some cash to make that happen. With the enforced exception of CB cover we are at the outs to enable ins phase of our window so we need Brands to somehow shift some of the unshiftable!

For the little it is worth I tend to agree that we are more 7-9 than top 6 as things stand because our depth is unconvincing and I do not think many of the holdovers bar Iwobi or Kean have much hope of improvement. The addition of Nkounkou and continuing emergence of Gordon (and Branthwaite despite the injury setback) are the most encouraging things here. If/when Gbamin is fit (a couple more months?) that might help if he is able to quickly play at the level we were led to expect after so many injuries in such a compressed time. Fingers crossed for good news on him sooner rather than later but it is hard to bank on him yet.

Heard anything regarding Tomori lately?

You need to chill out man. You bang on about how other teams are doing better business then us has made our transfers less of a big deal.

Then of the 5 teams you quote only two have done any significant business and two of them are champions league teams and one of them is the league champions.

Do you have any idea of how much of a bed wetter you sound like?

"Oh no! Other teams in the league might spend money and buy players. If we don't buy 8 more players we're DOOMED!!!"

It's so boring seeing you and other posters on this fourm spouting the same negative, nonsensical rhetoric over and over.

Cheer up man and enjoy what's going on at Everton, things are looking up be happy with that and see where it goes.
Think perhaps you're being a bit harsh. Surely fair enough to say that, not only do we need to improve, but need to improve to a greater extent than the teams around us if we want to make progress? Think what we've signed will get us a step up, but if we want a leap, something more is required.

How is it negative though?

He evaluating and looking at our squad compared to others and asking have we got enough to compete and he’s come out with no.

He’s suggesting we sign a couple more and we can compete, he’s not once said it won’t happen for X or Y reason.

Why don’t you do the same go through the entire squad and ask yourself could you rely on said player to step up if needed if not then he’s not good enough and needs replacing.

People have been calling other fans bed wetters for the last 25 years.

There is a reason why some dont get carried away when it comes to Everton.

Seen plenty getting carried away.

Some can’t see what’s in front of them or like to ignore it.

Loads saying stick James in the midfield sound would work he did it for Bayern and then realise if James didn’t play LW we would most likely play Theo Walcott.

We’ve got a LONG way to go yet.

And if Gomes gets one of his usual niggles it means Siggurdsson or Davies in the midfield.

We are still 3-4 players short its not like we are Liverpool/Wolves who never get injuries and can field the same 11 most of the season.

We have 2x CB's out after just one game.
