Everton Transfer Thread - Summer 2020

Would have liked another forward but maybe we have someone in mind from the Championship and maybe a right back but Seamus has started well and maybe Godfrey will be an option. Overall you have to say it was a good window, massovely upgrading the midfield was huge, not every problem can be solved at once...

Olsen will hopefully give Pickford a kick up the arse that he’s not automatically first choice anymore but I don’t see him being ousted just yet. Disappointing for sure but I’d prefer we waited until January or even next summer to get the keeper we really want rather to be left with one that we panic bought. Romero may have been an improvement this year but next year we’d need to go again and then we’d have him and Pickford on big wages to get off the books. If he has any hope of playing for England and even playing for a club in Europe he massively needs to show it this season.

Otherwise a very good window for us, still think someone like Josh King will be a bit of business we’ll do and think Besic will probably go to the Championship too.

Like I said to @Connor last night, I didn't want this all window. All window I've been saying i don't want Moise Kean - one of Europe's brightest prospects this time last year and someone we grafted hard to get here - to leave, and us to bring in a 28-year-old King who, for the record, I think is half-decent.

But we are where we are and I think it's naive in the extreme to go into the rest of the season with just two options for up front but also the drop off in quality being so great if we get 2-3 injuries (and we already have seven of those).

Then again, January is actually 8 weeks away which I have kind of forgotten to think about.

It's just frustrating in a way as I think one more real top quality player and we've got a squad that can really do something this year.

We can buy from the championship still. Most of the names banded about in here are in that division and can still be acquired.

Add a Sarr, Benrahma or Brooks to the squad and we look set. Even Aarons at RB.

Getting Sandro and half of Walcott's massive wage out the door is great news. Just Tosun, Bolasie and Besic to go now.

13 weeks away to January, but there are rarely any good players available.

I just feel we always end a window one player short and one injury away from a big problem.

King is good, and at 12-15m I think its a no brainer.

Sorry, genuinely don't know what day it is. Obviously there's two international breaks (including this one) in that, so 11 weeks of action.

Yep, I agree with you mate. It's not about stockpiling players. It's about having quality options and we just always seem that one option short.

We did well on Saturday but all it took to derail us in the first half was that Richarlison injury. It took 15 minutes for Iwobi to realise he was on a footy pitch and we let Brighton get a foothold. Obviously their first goal was a Pickford error but still.

Iwobi was great going forward in the second half and that's all good, but with Richarlison off, as soon as James was subbed and Walcott came on we had nobody to help Dom hold the ball up top, and we were forced really deep and if not for Mina it could have been a nervy ending.

It's little things like that.

If we have the money to still go and get King then if the deal is right, yeah, because he's a good enough player to ad something. That being said, I still don't think he's the quality we need to kick on. But again, we are where we are with it. He'd definitely get us goals, though (I've always been a fan, just think he's tailed off in the last two years, then again so have Bournemouth).
