Everton Transfer Thread - Summer 2020

Would be great if we could do it through removing the deadwood but a sale might be required. Would be ideal to shift Siggurdson Schneiderlin Keane Bolasie Niasse Tosun and all the on loan players rather than have to sell a first teamer.

The problem is, this is going to be a terrible summer to be able to get any value on sales. As you say, if we can clear deadwood off, then use a defence to UEFA that Covid 19 hammered the value of players we were intending to sell (Calvert Lewin, Digne and Richarlinson) so we were unable to get ourselves out of debt, it could fly.

If I had to make a wager I’d bet that Kenny and Davies will be sold. Both will have pure book value profit and neither are first team. Holgate would be the other one perhaps but I think Ancelotti wants him in the first 11.

Well I was more just continuing with the original point. If we're trying to get his wages down and taking a gamble on him, then that would suggest we're not being bankrolled by Usmanov which is all I was saying. I don't think he's a bad player to be honest; he's certainly good enough to get games for us, just not sure he's any better than what's already here. As an aside, there's no way he's got to June and turned down a contract extension without having something lined up. There'll be no negotiating going on now, he knows exactly where he's going and exactly how much he's going to get paid, it just hasn't been made official yet.

Yes fair enough points.

I don't necessarily think that his signing or that ilk would detirmine that though. If we did not have substantial background investment, we would be going into fire sale mode currently. We wouldn't be signing anyone. Id also say, from what I can see, the proposed rule changes don't give much room for manouevre for sides.

As for Fraser, we have no idea what has gone on there. I don't know his current wage, but suspect he will be in and around 40k per week. Given where Bournemouth are, they are probably not in a position where they can commit to upping (or frankly even maintaining) his wage. So that 2-3 week extension is easy to turn down.

No I don't just mean the short term extension, I mean the normal one. Nobody in his position turns down a contract and then finds themselves without a club or taking a paycut. He's turned down the deal because he's been offered one elsewhere on more money. It's just how it works, surely everybody knows that by now. He'll have agreed a deal months ago, it's just a case of waiting for it to be OK to announce it.

I'd wager that Kenny is the only one from that list that may be available permanently...
Homegrown factor is massively important if we want to playing In europe

I think we were going to struggle to get any kind of a decent price for most of the players we want to sell with or without Covid.

We know that Bolasie,Besic,Sandro , Schneiderlin are not wanted at the club and if we can get them out for no transfer practically and off the wage bill then that would be acceptable.
Sigurdsson may be for sale but that may not be the case as CA has regularly played him and even made him captain.

Apart from that there are probably half a dozen young players that will be allowed to leave but again it will be for practically no fee.
We know that Niasse, Stekelenburg and Garbutt are all leaving shortly anyway.

Apart from that I can't see who else is for sale that is likely to bring in a decent fee. When you think of who is left it isn't even a big squad.

That may have been the plan, and a good plan, but their values have all just declined.

We don't know the terms Bournemouth have offered. We also don't know if the long term offer remains. He's turned down the short term extension. Read into the rest as we will.

Well we don’t ‘know’ anything do we, but we can make educated guesses. I genuinely can’t remember a player in fraser’s situation - running his contract down rather than being released, linked to big clubs and certainly not likely to be moving downwards - actually becoming a free agent and just sitting round waiting for their phone to ring. They tend to be announced at a new club as soon as the season is over and it’s acceptable to admit. It’s possible he’s just winging it but I’d be very surprised.
