Ihatteren is one of the highest rated young players in Dutch football. He's a Foden or Sancho for them. I'd love us to get him but think he would most probably have his sights set higher.

Signed with Super Agent to the stars and Mouse Kean and close friend to Mr Moshiri - Mino Raiola.

So don't rule it out

Im thinking how many players will we need to see an improvement, four in my opinion but right down the central chanel.

Centre back, central midfilder, perhaps a creative midfielder and a right flanker to augment squad balance.

I expect a hybrid of mismatch deals, more taking on wages then really big fees.

I’m not sure we will be signing 2 players who are 29 and a 36yr old.

Gbamin can’t kick a ball without needing an ambulance. Kicking a ball is a fundamental attribute of a professional footballer, so I really can’t see him making it it at Everton. In fact, I’ll be surprised if he even manages to start a game.

If it were up to me I’d be sniffing around the underachieving foreign teams for players. Maybe teams that normally get Europe but maybe missed out this time. Frankfurt for Hinteregger, Kostic, Da Costa for example.

It's the sort of sensible plan that you hope, and in fairness anticipate Brands may be looking at.

Da Costa is a interesting spot especially with links away from the Frankfurt but I've love Filip Kostic but you'll be looking at £30-40m

Watching Espanyol v Barca last night and last season from 7th to bottom was a shock especially with players like:
Marc Roca - DM - 23 - £15-20m
Victor Gomes - RB - 20 - £5-10m
