I really hope that we don't hold Coleman and McCarthy back for the game on Thursday. Shag the Europa, we need to start moving up the table. It's the bread and butter for the club and anything less than 6th would have to be considered a bad season.

It's top drawer, the first 4 seasons are incredible tv.

And because I don't want to be infracted for being off topic, Barkley on the bench I reckon.

Just one more Dexter related post. Are you saying it declines after season 4 I'm on 3. I wish he kept going with Mageul. He just after telling him he wants the go it alone. If there was eleven Manguels on the.pitch for Everton we would dominate the league.

Damn I hate Aston Villa, last season aside I always feel we never do well against them, even when we play them off the park.

Nice preview, always appreciate the effort, you were far to kind to their fans though.

Keep the faith. The cream rises to the top

TEAM NEWS

Everton could welcome back as many as five names to the matchday squad after Roberto Martinez gave a positive injury update at Thursday's press conference.

The manager declared Sylvain Distin (dead leg) as refreshed and ready to return, while Ross Barkley (knee), James McCarthy (quad), Seamus Coleman (soft tissue) and Steven Pienaar are all pushing to make their own comebacks.

The visitors, meanwhile, may be without recent England debutant Fabian Delph (shoulder), former Blue Philippe Senderos (thigh) and striker GabrielAgbonlahor (illness).

FORM

After a topsy-turvy start to their Premier League campaign, Aston Villa currently sit in 10th place with 10 points from their first seven games.

Paul Lambert's side picked up seven points from their first three league matches, with wins against Stoke and Hull City coming either side of a goalless draw with Newcastle United.

Agbonlahor notched the only goal in an impressive 1-0 victory at Anfield, a win which moved Villa up to second place.

But after a tough run of games against Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City, the Midlands club slipped to mid-table, with three defeats in which they failed to find the net and conceded eight goals.

LAST MEETING

Everton 2-1 Aston Villa, Saturday 1 February 2014

Goals from Steven Naismith and Kevin Mirallas helped Everton come from behind to defeat Aston Villa the last time these two sides met.

The Blues fell behind when Leandro Bacuna put the visitors ahead midway through the first half, but substitute Naismith levelled with 15 minutes remaining, before Mirallas stole victory with a spectacular free-kick five minutes from time.

Earlier in the season, Leon Osman played a huge role in helping Everton to 2-0 victory at Villa Park.

Osman entered the fray on the hour-mark and the stalwart promptly set up Romelu Lukaku for the opener before finding the net himself to confirm the three points for the Blues.

I've been to Us vs. Villa at Goodison more than any other fixture, last season was the first I had seen us win, and what cracking goals to win us the game!

Think tomorrow will be a tough game, a win would hopefully propel us into some good form.

Everyone knows my thoughts on Aston Villa

That was technically better than Jags equaliser v the [Poor language removed]. Speaking of that, total highlight of the season so far. A feel good result against them at Anfield is a nice box to thick. Now let's go on a run and add to that one highlight. COYBs. Lukaku, it's your destiny.

Bag of nerves here. Feels like my own hanging and I want every second to crawl by before another 90 minutes of hellish torture that drags us one game nearer to the yawning abyss.

Not felt this way for a very long time. Probably the last time I felt like this was just before our last win over th RS, way back in 2010. Not only was it a derby, but one which felt like a relegation six pointer - Liverpool were THAT bad!

When Mickey's screamer put the result beyond doubt, I thought to myself "oh my god, we acually did it.... after years of gloating and abuse the worm has finally turned and we've just sent the RS down! If they've lost to us, usually their "goldmine" team, and blackpool in consecutive games they surely have no hope!"

Oh nothing so droll.... unleash Suarez, regain ill-deserved confidence, stay up, somehow finish above Everton.... typical

I never thought, four whole years later, I would once again be one of the unhosed, looking at the same pitiful league record of 1-3-3 and looking down rather than up.

It's starting to affect my sleep. Everytime I nod off all I see is Howard flapping against a no-mark team or Distin mucking up a simple pass to Baines.
