Allardyce got good results for us. Terrible performances though. I'd rather have Carlo. He had 2 of his players playing tonight.
Yeh, and Solksjaer's been playing with players most of whom he inherited. Management is not just about buying the best. It's also to do with making the best of what you've got. Ancelotti may be great at the former but what has he shown regards the latter?

They are just not good enough and way off to be honest. Mathematical they are close to European qualification but quality wise they are way off. Not sure money and new players will fix this. You only need to look at the RS .....they won the league last year but standards drop a small percentage in this competitive league and you quickly become an also ran. Could be a long time before we are competitive. This year was odd due to Covid and for that qualification to Europe was wide open. Next year if things are back to ‘normal’ we will really struggle with the current squad

Just makes no sense when you consider what this guy has won. Sorry.

you don't have to have a set style of play to be a good manager

tell me, how did Carlo's Chelsea team play?

What about his Milan side?

What about his Juve team, or his PSG team, or his Napoli or Real Madrid sides?

I'm not talking about a formation here. I'm talking about a style, a philosophy... Did any of those teams play in a remotely similar way? Like say, Pep - you know that his game is going to be about pressure, possession, movement. Klopp - pressing, counter-attacks etc.

He doesn't have one.

Again, I'll stress, that's no bad thing. It's actually a good thing in some circumstances. But ultimately, at other clubs (not Napoli, which is why it became an issue for them) he had the quality in certain games to be able to say "just play footy". We don't have that. But ultimately we have no default to fall back on either. We just get caught in between, and then injuries, and previous poor recruitment etc, extenuate that.

Couldn't agree more. Qualifying for Europe would paper over the cracks, the extra games would stretch the squad, an then we'd just end up playing the players we have now an we already know they aren't good enough. Personally think its amazing Carlo has done this well given the teams limitations.
I honestly think we all just need to be patient. We all want a Europa or champs league run but realistically we're a window or two off really being at that level. With a good summer window I honestly think we could be in for a great season coming

People saying it was better under Allardyce than Carlo.
Wow. Just wow.

People have short memories.

When you're stuck with a midfield including Siggurdson, Iwobi, Gomes with Delph and Bernard as subs, there's a hell of a long way to go.
Our squad is pish. We've probably got 6 or 7 players worth holding onto.

At least this summer's window, plus another season, we'll see where we are.

Alex Ferguson took over a below average Man Utd squad in 86. He won the league for the first time in 93.
Christ sake people, have a bit of patience.

Who else could come in and do a better job?
They could do better themselves cos they won the league on football manager with Lincoln. lol

Ferguson managed two games. Carlo has won league and multiple European cups. Ferguson’s claim to fame is chinning someone, I think I’ll pass on the big man.
Unsworth won every home game when in charge. Not relevant of course. Just as Ancelotti's record of success when managing the world's top players isn't.

But who did he win those cups with?? Do we have that attraction of galacticos? It's all well and good that he demands resect based on his past but we are talking about a gaffer who simply isn't equipped to manage club like this. Do you reall think Millwall would get promoted if they signed Messi? Sounds daft but it is literally the same as what we have going on here, not saying at all that Carlo needs to win prem but he sure needs to put out better performances that the dross we have been served up too many times this season like our last 2 matches

Very simple really...THE PLAYERS ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH!
Until we employ some technically good players with a bit of pace too, then we will always have games/results like this.
Did you pass this piece of advise on to Carlo at all?

Until we learn to control games or more importantly get in the required standard of players with the ability to control possesion we are going to struggle to win games consistently

Well someone has to win a cup with us mate and if Carlo can’t then I’m afraid, with how the game is now, that we’ll be as far away as we’ve ever been if we let him go. As sound as it was watching Duncan cuddle ball boys and all that, I just wouldn’t want him running this club, especially acting like that. It would get old very quickly. I want the best for Everton, and at the moment I believe that is Carlo ancelotti.

CARLO MOTD INTERVIEW

SMITH MOTD INTERVIEW

We are usually overrun in midfield and in my opinion Gomes can only start if Allan and Doucoure are there with him otherwise he is a liability.

I think the lack of pace between Sigurdsson and Gomes is hurting us also.

I find it hard to understand Gomes starting ahead of Davies or even Delph when he is fit.
