Amongst a lot of fans here's a fairly decent 'feel good' factor around with the sacking of Benitez, the new manager and new signings. Let's hope this continues and we perform and win on Saturday.

Because we have better quality players than them all over the pitch, and the fans in the ground will roar them home to a big win...something they wouldn't do for Benitez in most of the games he took.
To be fair even the last home game the crowd was very muted, Duncan couldnt raise them, it wasnt the bouncing atmosphere we hoped for

Because everyone (players and fans) knew he was just a stand in.

This is the new dawn and we'll see a massive response.

Brentford will be blown away.

They are a poor side, and with their promotion bounce wearing off I think they are very much still relegation candidates.

Normally even with a weakened team I’d say with the new manager in place and some sensible tactics we should be comprehensively outplaying these. My only concern is the weather forecast is for fairly horrible “anything can happen” type conditions. Centre backs will need to be on it, and we know that’s not exactly a given.
Whatever the prevailing conditions, its the same for both sides. Gray and Richarlison are sharp enough to pounce.

Pickford
Patterson, Mina, Brantwaite, Mykolenko
Gomes, Allan, Gbamin
Gray, Richarlison, Gordon
interesting 1st line up by Lampard. Hope we see Patterson. Think Godfrey will play, see what happens with Keane/Holgate.
Down to the bare bones in midfield: could be Onyango getting the nod or Townsend in a 4-2-3-1 as a nr 10

Brentford are agricultural no marks.

I'll be worried if we dont knock 5 in against this lot.

Relax, we're in round 5 - guaranteed.

A home draw there and we're in a great position to reach Wembley again.
league table doesn't lie mate. lampard is no wonder doctor and we miss quite a few. next round whatever way possible.

I suppose the sensible thing to do tomorrow ,would be to field a complete second string. And see how that goes. Keep the first string fit and chomping at the bit for the Newcastle match. We'd be cursing like mad if say Richarlson and Gray picked up injuries. And missed the Newcastle match.
Now as this is Everton , what do you do. What's for the best.
Ideally we beat Brentford with the minimum of fuss. Then beat Newcastle. Then confidence is high. And we then get a favourable home draw in the next round of the cup. And we then beat Leeds. The bounce has actually happened. We are on our way.
But being Everton. Three defeats in the next three matches could very easily happen. And more injuries to cope with. Naw........that can't happen.
We can't allow that to happen. The manager can't allow that to happen. Our much maligned players can't allow that to happen. We now step up. Win these next few matches. Get this season at long last up and running.
So for me it's rest a few players for tomorrow ( avoid injuries) . But only rest a few. Go for Brentford. No conceding first. Win the match.
Give Patterson his debut. I think that this guy will be ok.
Then get our new guys in for the Newcastle match. Go for them from the off. No more of this " not turning up" in the first half. Press......And then press some more. So no old hands. They couldn't press a shirt. Get our younger players at them. And win these next few matches.
Well folks.......that's the theory part anyway. Let's hope this new manager bounce thing is real. And that our players realise that this for us supporters is all too real. This depressing nonsense of a season , is all to real. But a few wins would help. So let's rock and rolll....
Up The Toffees...........Frank Lampards young guns Toffees. Rant over....

I think Lampard will have failed to read the room if he goes for anything other than his best team available.

Yes, the PL takes priority. But that will get a boost if we get a win and then a winnable tie in Sunday's draw.
