There are 3 players that are absolutely vital to our team functioning and therefore staying in the division and as such, none of them should be kicking a ball in this tie.

They are Mina, Allan and Richarlison.
That is not how Lampard will play this. He's going to trot out the big guns, because he (and the club) need a W.

I'd say 1-0, but that hasn't been how we roll since Ancelotti left. The only way we win right now is by scoring loads.

Everton 3-2 Brentford AET.

I'm hopeful of a win in this, but lots will depend on what sort of team we can put out. 3 of our new signings are all cup tied for the game. I would go almost as strong as possible, other than wanting to give both new full backs a start. Coleman can't play twice in 3 days anymore so I would start Patterson and then Coleman at Newcastle. I'm unsure about DCL's fitness as well. I would go for something like this....

Pickford
Patterson Godfrey Mina Mykolenko
Gomes Gbamin/Townsend/Iwobi Allan
Gray Richarlison Gordon

The third option in midfield is the hardest, and least straight forward call for me. It depends what way we want to play and there are no great options fit.

We need to win football matches. We are no position to be picky right now. There will be one or two changes because a couple of players can't play twice in 3 days, but we need to go strong and try and take the game to Brentford.

I think I’ve picked a strong enough team to win but I don’t want any of those 3 playing 2 games in 4 days, they are too fragile.

If Benitez was still here I would I thought it better to bin this game and concentrate on survival. Now things have changed of course and although PL survival takes priority it is worth having a go in the Cup and try and progress. Hopefully build some confidence along the way for the battles ahead.
3-1 win to get Lampard off to a good start ;)

I think we will see a Everton playing on the front foot enjoying their football. A win here will do wonders for confidence going back in to the prem games.

UTFT!

While a cup run would be nice, it's a bit of a free hit for Frank. Nothing to lose, a chance to be attacking and build some confidence and momentum for the Newcastle game.

You can bet your bottom dollar that Coleman will have done enough brownnosing this week to get given the nod at right back for the foreseeable future.

This is going to be a special day at Goodison, hope the 3 new players who cant play are still there to welcome to the fans.
And Franko gives some game time you a few younger players
