I totally agree, he probably should have not taken given he is just now getting back to match fitness. But if someone else had taken that penalty and not scored either then many will be questioning why DCL didn’t take it.

Right, it's 100% Benitez throwing the player under the bus, which is what managers under pressure the world over do. The exceptions are the ones like Pep, Ancelotti and Klopp that have credibility to burn, and the ones like van Gaal that truly could care less what you think.
