If you play him in front of someone who's willing to play passes in behind, it's a different matter.

This is on Benitez. As bad a half of football as has been served up in the last few years. Totally ill-fitting system.

No he can't play up top in this league full stop. He doesn't have the toolset. He's a wily footballer but in this league it only shows when cutting in as an inside forward.

He's not a 'complete striker', and for this league you have to be that or a target man type to play off like Wood.

Benitez isn't to blame for this - that squad simply isn't good enough and aside from Rondon or calling back James from vaping on his yacht, he had little other option.
