Can’t remember it ever working for any side unless it’s their regular setup. Using it for a one off game never seems to work out. I’d change it to a 4 now with Keane coming off for Iwobi and having either he or Gray play just behind Rich.

It's way too complicated a switch to just do it randomly and yet tons of smart managers do just that. So weird.

No he can't play up top in this league full stop. He doesn't have the toolset. He's a wily footballer but in this league it only shows when cutting in as an inside forward.

He's not a 'complete striker', and for this league you have to be that or a target man type to play off like Wood.

Benitez isn't to blame for this - that squad simply isn't good enough and aside from Rondon or calling back James from vaping on his yacht, he had little other option.

He did it fine in several spells both last season and the two seasons before it. His Anfield performance was brilliant.

I was actually thinking Iwobi in behind Richarlison.

James has been training for 3 weeks and should be in the squad as an option. He's just as 'fit' as Rondon (i.e. neither of them have played). That is on Benitez.
