Some of Marshall's saves. No idea how we managed to get 2 past this guy today.

I thought Goodison sounded pretty good (on the TV)

No it was shocking as per, everyone is saving themselves for United perhaps. That cringworthy "we only sing when were winning" nonsense i think a lot of younger fans might be taking on board, i dunno. But the play at times today was a bit frustrating which dosent help. Cardiff were good, the chant about them being blue got a good reception from the park end, and the anti Tan chants were funny

Let's face it, the Martinez style of football is not of the edge of your seat, stirring, blood curdling variety is it? It's hardly a surprise that the atmosphere is so low key.

Small point that I've noticed throughout the last few years is that we don't celebrate winners down at the Street End like we used to. At first I put it down to the camera angle but there definitely isn't that wild celebration which we used to see.

please respect the no swearing rule
So what result do people want from the RS/Man U game?

as ever the RS can get f****** be happy with a draw but with Chelsea messing up cant afford really for the RS to get anything, as much as i hate Moyes i hate them more!!!!

If it were just about Everton, I suppose you'd want Man U to lose, just to put a close rival further behind. But I just can't stand the thought of that other lot winning the league. You would never hear the end of it. Order restored, etc. Think if we were chasing 4th I might feel differently, but I just can't get excited by the Europa League. I know Roberto is talking it up, but I think it repeatedly screws clubs with smaller squads. Think it could adversely affect our PL standings next year and I can't imagine it generates much money (enough to offset the inevitable injuries, etc?)

Despite the win, Martinez got it generally wrong today and we got lucky. There was a worrying lack of plan B yet again and the subs made no sense whatsoever, in terms of timing (subbing after a goal, particularly the goalscorer, made zero sense, and Barkley came on at least 10 minutes too late).

It just doesn't bode well for future games. We just kept the ball in "dangerous" areas and relied on luck to score rather than craft. We'll drop points because of a lack of imagination in the final third.

Not only that, we looked defensively soft too. Cardiff barely attacked but whenever they did Campbell and Noone looked like carving us open. Against better teams we'll concede easily in the run in.

Hope I'm wrong but, three points aside, I saw next to nothing encouraging about yesterday.

If we win the next 10 games with shaky, unconvincing 1-0 wins, would you still say "the 30 points aside, I saw next to nothing encouraging about those 10 games" ?

No, I'd say "GET IN!" like everyone else.

All I'm doing is looking for patterns to have a reasonable guess at what is ahead - form, if you will - which is a reasonable thing to do.

Totally reasonable. You can't argue that a last second Coleman mishit was part of the plan.

It was clear that there was a lot wrong yesterday and some of Martinez's subs -- or the timing of them -- were poor. McGeady aside. First half I thought we were well on top and would genuinely attribute the scoreline at that point to their keeper alone.

But when they changed it up we never really got to grips, until after they equalised and we got a stranglehold on them a bit at the end.

The issue is breaking down stubborn teams. As good as their keeper was, time and time again we've been very poor at unlocking well-drilled backlines this year. You can't bank on deflections and mishits every game.

Having watched it on MOTD, there goalie had a worldly and we deserved to win and were unlucky not to win 3 or 4 nil. Defending from set plays needs a lot of work.

Chelsea, spurs and Cardiff all scored from free kicks with poor defending, all 3 weren't free kicks either
