Yes I can see that to an extent, But you can't think Martinez would tell them not to play a through ball to a forward player if the chance was there surely

Interesting that McCarthy and Barry have 7 assists between them and there the deeper players

Shows how poor Osman and sadly, Barkley have been for most of the season.

Every man and his dog knows we need players who can move the ball around quicker and play the killer ball

Osman/Barkley/Kev/Naismith just don't fit into that group imo (Barkley will do in time like)

I kind of see Barkley as more of a CM to be honest. The kind who just dominates the field, as opposed to the CAM who plays neat through balls.

he is, if moyes wasn't so clueless, he probably would be that player now. players that young get given a freer role to help them get use to what it is to play at this level, more experience sees them be right in the heart of things, before their legs go and they either get chucked back into that free role (osman) or go back deep (gerrard/lampard).

who knows, maybe if he wasn't dropped for two years for conceding a penalty, we may have not seen the need to buy mccarthy.

Well thank god we did

Any thoughts on Baines. Seems sort of lost under Martinez. Saw one those maps that compared where the percentage of our play happens under Martinez and under Moyes. Under Moyes, you have two thick red lines along the wings; Under Martinez, much more of our play occurs in the center of the pitch. Does this new style suit his game. Was thrilled, but also a little surprised when he resigned, endorsing the new regime. Where a lot of the veteran players have really improved or seen their opportunities to play increase under Martinez, Baines seems more bypassed by games.

For ages I thought you meant Baines had retired this afternoon. Even had a mini-mind-montage about all of his beautiful moments, which are just most of his moments.

RE: Coleman

After he scored such a lucky winner for Everton against Cardiff I'm almost tempted, if you'll excuse the pun, to call the right-back 'Shameless' Coleman. Particularly for celebrating his goal, courtesy of a mis-kick, by doing a lap of honour around Goodison Park.

He maybe should have apologised to David Marshall for the fortunate strike that robbed Cardiff of a deserved point. But the Everton defender has been an extra attacking outlet for Roberto Martinez this season and was in the right place at the right time to net once again.

Garth Crooks, everybody.
