While I do agree that he must be tearing his hair out it must also be questioned why such players who have been consistent performers over a number of seasons are now leaking goals all over the place, the management is not blameless here.

A team with Eto,Lukaku,McCarthy,Barry and Baines in the starting 11 should have plenty enough to beat a very average Palace side

The fact is we created enough chances and had enough control over the game to win it easily, Errors have cost us and no manager can influence that once the players go out onto the pitch
 
Don't think you can blame the team selection as it was entirely Howard's fault that they got the first 2 goals. Then Osman gifts them another which is partially Martinez fault for moving him into a deeper position which he should never play in under any circumstances.
 

Why oh why did we not buy a right back?

It was obvious Coleman was going to be out a lot this season with his recent injuries, even Martinez doesnt rate Hibbert and Stones is not a right back.

There was a couple free in th summer too.

Howard & Baines didn't play very well, nor did Lukaku (despite the goals from them). Looked like we were going to spank them at the start but we really just didn't push on enough and it's something we really need to address.

We're still boss guys. Just so happens that we've started the season with nerves, and I think that the pressure of performing to a level similar to last season might be hampering them - oh and i'm certain crystal palace are our official bogey team now? We screw up against them every time.

Also, I really didn't think Atsu was very good. He did make some nice runs in behind, which were delefeou-esque, however he didn't have nearly the same ball control as Del boy did,

A large majority of footy fans dont have an original thought between them. They just repeat cliches or something they read.

We really miss Ross carrying it forward because our passing doesn't create enough situations with a man advantage at the moment.
 
Poor performance front USA. Terrible mistakes. But he has been solid up till now behind a dodgy defence. Distan looks on the downhill fairly quick. Osman hit the bottom 2 years ago just after his England call up. He's proper kack
