I don’t blame Onana for taking a rubbish penalty.. he has shown a real deficiency in striking a ball at goal in his time and allowing him to take a winning penalty when you have dead ball specialist Garner sitting on the side is just very very poor decision making.. should be looking at that in my opinion
 
Despite the huge disappointment of going out we were clearly running on fumes, still only conceded from a deflection & could easily have won.

Just a game too far for these 13-14 players who’ve given us everything they’ve got consistently for months.

I’m not worried about the impact on the squad’s mentality. Pickford was gesturing to the fans that we’ll just go again as he picking himself up after their winning pen.
 
Look, this might get a lot of haha reactions but listen. I think we should be behind the players. I, myself am really frustrated but I think we need to look at things clearly
So, Michael Keane was inconsistent again, no surprises. Would have handed Godfrey a start instead
Then we have Onana and his crap penalty. So, I don't know if it was the right choice to select Onana for the 5th pen. He has shown us in previous games that he is not good at shooting. But, we can't just go out and attack him in that manner. He has been excellent for us on lot's of ocassions... Also, he really loooked sad in the end of the game, unlike Gana...
Alright, Gana did have a crap game, he was really bad. Also, him giggling at the end of the game, really made me angry. But what can I say? It seems more important to him to chew gum during the game.

Branthwaite and Tarky were really good btw

So, in the end of the day, we can't be against our players after a bad game... I understand that this was our only chance to win something this year but the players have done a lot this season. As hard as it seems, let's forget this and go on to the next one!
 
Think last night highlighted the need for at least 2 more bodies in, 3 if danjuma goes back. McNeil and Harrison knackered, gana can’t play 90 mins no more either. Injuries played a part tonight and tired legs didn’t help either. I’m frustrated as we where a pen away from pulling it off, but we need to regroup and reinforce in January if possible and go again for the second half of the season.
 

Massively disappointing last night, but still some individual positives.
Feel our record/effort in penalty shoot outs and cup competitions in general is poor and goes back to the days of Moyes and the ‘knife to a gun fight’ mentality. Think Dyche is the person to turn that round and make us have a fighting, dogs of war attitude. I had no faith that we’d win that shoot out, then you just see social media full of ‘Everton that’ or ‘peak Everton’ comments.

The whole culture of the club is plucky little Everton, rather than expectation, we just live in hope. I absolutely trust Dyche to do that work but it needs to run through the whole club. The John Moores quote that Everton fans ‘expect success’ set a standard that the club was meant to achieve. Whoever our new owners are need to see that as the benchmark, not ‘the people’s club’ or ‘we’ll see what we can do’. Our motto is our standard.

You'd think professional football players could play football without running on fumes..
 
…..feeling so disappointed this morning. A few thoughts from me after sleeping on it;

- The draw was a predictable and reasonable outcome after 90mins.
- Branthwaite demonstrated again what an exceptional talent he is.
- What regularly happens to Michael Keane surely can’t be down to bad luck. He played ok otherwise.
- Not surprisingly, 2 of the worst strikers of a ball in the squad missed their penalties.
- It won’t be the miss but the manner of the Onana miss that will remain in our minds for many years.
- The scorers converted their penalties very competently.
- The order they went in has to be a lesson learned for the coaches.
- Pickford is renowned as a shop stopper, but it was odd he failed to save more of the poor penalties he had covered.

Yes, we need better player's. It's clear we look a little lost without doucs. Couldn't of imagined that team last night taking us to Wembley and winning it tbh
 

I always wonder about those pens where the player watches the keeper to see where they go, little jump or not. When it works you look very composed. But when the keeper doesn't move - like Onana's or the Fulham one - you can end up looking a prat. Much better to just decide what your going to do and do it, like Keane and Tarks (btw clear as day he would do that, if I was Leno I would have just stood still). That saying, Gana missed his with a clear plan, so what do I know...
