Think of the possible left back solutions I’d try Branthwaite. I’d rather that than continuing to try and play 3 at the back. Adds some height to cover set pieces and I think would be more defensively solid than playing Kenny or Coleman there.

We are an injury or two more in defence from having Gbamin as the next centre back option…and god knows who as a next full back option…Townsend/Iwobi…

Don’t even have any left backs in the u23’s do we? He’s not the answer either but reckon they will be looking at options to recall nkounkou?
Gbamin might work out better than those 2 jokes keane and holgate

1. Bad Manager - (up to a few weeks ago) TICK
2. Injury list growing (including the really critical players) - inadequate medical staff numbers - TICK
3. And Growing - TICK
4. And inadequate height to cope with set piece defending TICK
5. Star Striker not match fit - TICK
6. Opponents who were / are struggling not playing us in recent weeks (Leicester, Watford, Newcastle, Burnley, Leeds) - TICK
7. VAR not awarding us penalties / cancelling opposition offsides / giving us the benefit of a red card call - TICK
8. Latest Opponents suddenly running into form (Newcastle, Southampton for example) - TICK

And I really hate Leeds.

Yes I remember Steve Watson getting a hat trick when having to play as a striker. I'm not sure, but, I think it may even have been against Leeds.
It was indeed @roy vernon. If I recall correctly (a rarity in itself these days), his second one was a lovely overhead kick at the Park End, sending the Da's into kick starting their pacemakers. The third was a immense chip over the keeper, who was off his line, into the Street end from about the half way line. The Zulus in the LGS went berserk. Me included.
No sheep was safe that night.

Lampard has to change the attitude / mentality around the place, and that means dropping some people who are not going to have a long term future here and bringing in people who might.

Coleman cannot start again after yet another bad game, so that means Patterson gets to start whether they think he is "ready" or not. Townsend was terrible out of position vs Newcastle, so the only other alternative at LB is Kenny (who has played there in the past and who I think should be ahead of Coleman in the pecking order anyway). Holgate and Keane are both having bad seasons but I think the jury is less out on Mason, so he should get the choice with Branthwaite as the other CB especially as he has more pace which will be important against James.

The midfield sort of picks itself (given that beyond those three its kids) but it has to be a three almost all the time anyway, but especially against these. Up front we need pace and guile - Gordon does not deserve to lose his place, DCL if fit has to start too and Alli did nothing to suggest he should start ahead of Richy.

No team can get as many injuries as Everton have had this season to key players and expect to stay up.

If we do stay up it will be a miracle.
Not so sure on that

Things have gotten so strange at Everton that I can’t believe that I actually think Gomes should start.
Leeds will give us no time in midfield and VDB will need more time to get up to speed so I’d actually go with Gomes.
