EVERTON V LEICESTER CITY: FA CUP 3RD ROUND (SAT 7 JANUARY 2017 3PM)

The hardest thing about supporting Everton is that its impossible to concretely say at any point in time "we are boss" or "we are gash"

Mentally, I need to align myself with one perspective or the other and from there I can judge performances and results.

But they just prove me wrong everytime I pick one... So now I am aligned with "we are gash" you guys should throw some money at us to beat city 6-0

Really wasn't expecting that. Didn't look the prettiest of games again. We'll get United or Arsenal in the next round and get trounced

That's the only thing that would make me feel better, if it's an Arsenal, Utd, City, RS or Spurs away I can stomach getting beat yesterday. Did you go yesterday mate? Awful game, 2 utterly crap sides trying to outcrap each other. Musa played well when he came on, the few times I've seen him he's never looked as dangerous as he did. Saying that, our defence was doing a grand impression of a league 2 defence so no surprise there.

No i was working mate. Yeah much like the league game a couple of weeks ago, neither game deserved anything other than 0-0. I'm slightly encouraged that we showed a bit of fight because that's been seriously lacking this season. What did you make of our new boy N'didi?

Musa is a strange one, stupidly clumsy but creates things purely from being so direct and quick.

What some are not grasping is that bar Bolasie, gana and McCarthy and maybe stek, that was the best 'in form' team koeman could play.

With their pace, I get why the formation was changed. Imagine if they had started with musa.

As koeman highlighted, this game is another example of the building job the club is going through and will take a couple of transfer windows.

It sucks, it's disappointing but things are VERY positive around the club right now so I'll focus on that.

I thought the scouse / wool thing was only ever been a joke to be honest. Just an internal wind up
Evertonians are Evertonians - no matter where they are from surely?
This thread does seem to make it seem as if non scouse accents supporting Everton are not welcome at Goodison.
Surely this is not on? Or have things changed for the worse recently? Will I need to keep my southern accent shut now?

I fail to see how this kind of 'regionalist' behaviour is any different from facism/racism.

Honestly I didn't notice your new signing tbh mate. For an hour you sat really deep and didn't look like doing much. As soon as we scored we had 2 real sloppy passages of play within a minute, you got your tails up and for 10 minutes we made you look as good as Brazil 1970. Final 15 minutes you done as pro job of closing the game out and time wasting ( which is what I'd expect to get a good result so I'm not slagging it off ) and we really only created 1 more chance which Kasper made a good save from.

Yeah that sounds like us lol

I thought the team selection was good. I expected three at the back.

In fact, Koeman had anticipated Leicester's defensive tactics, and in the first half played just two at the back, with Holgate as left wing back and Coleman active in midfield.

I enjoyed the first half. It lacked the intensity of most League games, and there were lots of individual skills on display.

I thought bringing on Deulofeu was a good move at half time, though perhaps not at the expense of Holgate. After we scored, I expected Leicester to accept defeat. After all, they were missing Vardy and Mahrez, need points in the Premier League, and are still in the Champions League.

All credit to Leicester, they didn't give up and played for a win rather than a draw. Mirallas for Valencia brought on fresh legs, but Kone - a Cup winner with Wigan! - for Barkley completely mystified me.

Now all we can dream of is our new dockside stadium.

Hardly. We played orthodox 4-4-2. Coleman was right midfield. Holgate was RB. Don't know where you get your Holgate at left wing back from!
Taking Holgate off was logical since Coleman was getting nowhere at wide right so had to be moved back to his natural position at RB.
